it has been one of the best albums in the past few years

as a whole the album is enjoyable, lyrically it was alright same with his flow, the beats wir class ... the album is very diverse, each song has it's own subject matter and the album can appeal to anybody whether your white, black, paki, chinese ...

only really annoyances within the album are there a few shit songs (The New Workout Plan & Breathe In Breathe Out) & pain in the arse skits (but those fit the album)

so, is it a classic to you ?

The album is enjoyable as you said, and no matter what anyone says about Kanye's cockiness or repetitiveness, he's a great producer. As far as rapping, he's nothing great but he can usually spit a verse without taking away from the song. I don't think this album is a classic though, the word gets thrown around a lot, but a classic in rap should be an album with solid production, but more importantly, great lyrics. Sometimes, an emcee is so good that the production doesn't even have to be good and he can drop a classic. Unfortunately, Kanye is not that emcee.

aye ... it's a classic.

Top 25 albums of all time for me. Good concepts, Kanye is decent on the mic, some outstanding verses,
dope layered "feel good" beats, enjoyable from start to finish, good guest spots, has the qualities of a classic album.

Very close to a classic for me, and I'm not even that much of a Kanye fan. "Two Words" really makes that record for me....one of my favorite songs of this decade easily

I said its close. I think Last Registration is closer to being a classic though. I think if Diamonds are Forever was on College Dropout id def consider it a classic. But then LR woulda been kinda weak. Wahtever, both albums were real legit i think.

edit: naw...CDropout was def better than late registration.

It's about borderline classic for me (I usually lean towards classic though) so my answer would be yes, easily one of the best albums released this decade

Last Call is probably my favorite beat on the whole album

We Don't Care is my favorite song on it though

I voted "naw its pish" and I happen to think KW is a very talented lyricist as well as a great producer.

But his subjects really arent what i look for in a rap record. Christianity and empowering young black girls etc. etc. whatever stuff he raps about, I just dont care about. The album I'm sure is very good from a musical composition perspective, but me personally the first time i listened to it was the last time i listened to it

Doesn't have the replayability for me to be a top album, so I voted close to a classic

Great Production and Beats but some filler + Kanye as an MC isn't top drawer

Co-sign.. Kanye is a nice producer but his lyrics ain't that great. If the main artist can't bring above average lyrics to his/her own album, I don't call it classic.

You could create a blueprint for classic material and find that The College Dropout nailed those qualities. Through The Wire was a excellent track too.

I think this is the perfect example of an album that barley makes classic status......fav track, 2 words

naw, he's a great producer but personally I'm not a fan of his MCing, though I do appreciate he is good, I think it might be his voice I don't like I'm not sure. I think with a different rapper or if he teamed up with another rapper to do it it could be, cos I kinda get slightly bored of listening to him for too long

Probably the best album of the decade for me, the beats are amazing and Kanye is a much better rapper than people give him credit for.

I think it's the other way around. He gets too much credit for his average rhymes.

Dropout and Late Registration were both classics. Kanye is one of the few highlights of mainstream hip hop the past few years. I'm sure some people don't like his music or style...and some people doubt he writes his own shit!

All I gotta say is, at least the dude is true to who he is...and even if he has ghostwriters, that doesn't make the albums any less classic.

Both the Chronics are classic last time I checked.

Never Let Me Down my fav track

Easily, as non-religious as I am, J.Ivy's "verse" hit me hard, really inspiring shit

I listened to this album many a time, trying to see what the hype was about, and I understood it for the most part, but the few poor tracks that Greeny pointed out plus the abundance of boring skits stop it from being a classic in my eyes.

Plus 80% of the time, Kanye's voice and flow annoy me, same as Game does. But I cant fault his production skills.

Both the Chronics are classic last time I checked.

chronic 2001 is not classic, I didnt like more than around 6 songs on that. The skits are shit and so are some of the songs. It is hugely overrated

College Dropout is iconic of the time we be in right now... it's got that vibe that any music lover can dig... I'm not feeling his whole new vibe.. he's turning into an arrogant asshole who can't break it down the way he did. I hated Late Registration... a couple solid tracks but overall, the quality was way lower than College Dropout...you could tell that it's all starting to get to his head.
