Please, say it aint so...
Hayzoos 07-17-2007, 01:26 AM BTW, his voice sounds like Toby on this for some reason.
Tommy Bunz 07-17-2007, 01:35 AM I honestly want to cry
THERE IS NO HOPE
Omega Def One 07-17-2007, 01:37 AM WTF!!!!! dam murs this shit was wack
.ScottishHead 07-17-2007, 01:38 AM I told you, no creative control on a major. Song is terrible.
In a few weeks; "yall herd dis new rappa called murs, he's dat hyphy shit real talk"
Alan Johnson 07-17-2007, 01:42 AM god this is garbage....
Hayzoos 07-17-2007, 01:48 AM Wait, how do you know this is official? There's nothing on his myspace about it.
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 01:57 AM .........no.
I feel like shooting myself.
uh-oh 07-17-2007, 02:00 AM ewwwhhhhh...that was fuckin horrible, I couldn't even listen to the whole thing...I just can't see Murs sellin out like that though, he is way too creative to do that type shit...if he really is on this hyphy tip now, then that's just fuckin sad..
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 02:06 AM ewwwhhhhh...that was fuckin horrible, I couldn't even listen to the whole thing...I just can't see Murs sellin out like that though, he is way too creative to do that type shit...if he really is on this hyphy tip now, then that's just fuckin sad..
i couldn't listen to the whole thing either. I think we should all bomb his fucking myspace and call him a sell out. I'm normally not like that, but god dammit...
X-NINE 07-17-2007, 02:07 AM MURS is not gonna sell out, I know that now......But it is a damn shame his underground fanbase will turn on him for signing to a major.......Whats the fuckin point in calling him a sellout? He DESERVED the deal, unlike half the mothafuckaz out today.......
And the trak to str8 to me.....least he is going out of his boundaries for this one

X I gotta disagree with you on this. He's not a sellout for signing. He's a sellout solely because of this song. This is bullshit... there's no way you can appreciate this song. Maybe from somebody else... but not from someone who has never made anything like this. It's obvious he only did it for one reason...and imo, he's a fucking sell out b/c of this.
jbbj1515 07-17-2007, 02:12 AM ugh. this is on the same level as that "lip gloss" trash. but this is just one song. i cant hate the man for trying to sell some records.

See this is the problem I have with many ppl on this tip
I been following the man for 4 yrs alredy, and you telling me he should have to stick to his regular formula that he is known for? Ok........Im glad he's at least trying to hook up with different producers to get some shine....ISNT THAT MOTHAFUCKAZ WANTED FROM MURS 10 YRS AGO? TO GET SOME KIND OF AIRPLAY??!! You cant be serious if you think he'll change for anyone based off one song.....Let the man do him, and judge for youself when the ALBUM drops
But still, if you gonna turn on him for just ONE song, then you giving up too easily, the album aint even leak or come out yet, and I guarentee this isnt a taste of what all of the album will sound like......

He didn't make this song for himself. He didn't make this song for Hip-Hop. He made this song for some cash. That's about it. I ain't mad at him for signing or tryin to eat. But hell... he could've done it differently. There's no way MURS can feel proud of himself for this song, as an mc or artist.
Wu Gambino 07-17-2007, 02:20 AM Why did you do this to us Murs? I've been waiting for this album for awhile now but this doesn't help. Say it ain't so Murs.
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 02:23 AM Alright...
Maybe I shouldn't judge him off one song. I'm glad he's trying to get known and expand his fan base. And X, he didn't have to follow the same formula...
but he also didn't have to follow the sell out / mainstream formula. He could've gone with a different route on a single. He's talented enough to get something going without mimicking other artists' bullshit music.

No true MURS fan is turning on him. I'm still getting this album. I'm just disappointed. MURS has always been about being himself and not trying to conform to what the mainstream does. This just doesn't fit him. I just don't want MURS to change just to make some money.

No one has a problem with him signing to a major or getting airplay...but honestly, whats the point of getting airplay if its shit music? There's already enough of this trash on the radio without Murs jumping on the bandwagon. This song shows absolutely zero talent and thats just sad as Murs is one of the sickest mc's i've ever heard....
I'm listening to Murs 3:16 on repeat all week in memorial of the ARTIST formerly known as Murs. R.I.P....you weren't here with us long enough

he can do what he wants, and whatever he decides to drop is something we the fans have no control over......The man is up there grinding, and I bet he knows how much ppl are saying he sold out, but does he care what they think? Im sure he doesnt, and whatever ppl are gonna say isnt gonna change the fact the man is trying to get out there and get some paper......It may be hurtful to fans he had to a make a hyphy track to get some talk about the album, but that is what it is and thats something I cant just directly hate on....
Everyone says the same shit about C-BO signing to Young Buck's 'Cashville Records', whats the point in calling him a sellout if you've only heard one track thats different than what he usually does? I agree it couldve been done differently, but I seriously am SMH @ the folks that will stop buying his records based off HIS decisions.....I mean respect the mans hustle and mind at least is what im saying..

I'm still gonna buy his album. This is just disappointing, man.

It's just disappointing. I'm a huge MURS fan and I'm not giving up on him. True MURS fans will not give up on him. I trust that MURS just did this to get some radio play & will show his true self throughout his album.
Juice. 07-17-2007, 02:39 AM Lmao, I had a real good laugh reading the comments in this thread. It is interesting how fast so many supposed fans of MURS are to down him as soon as he slightly hints at appealing to a wider demographic.
There is nothing wrong with making music that incites dance and gets the club spot like a club spot should be. Just as long as that isn't your only objective.
Hayzoos 07-17-2007, 02:40 AM I just found out this song will be on Madden 08.

That was his only objective with this track. There IS something wrong with making shitty music for some god damn suburban kid's acceptance.
Juice. 07-17-2007, 02:48 AM That was his only objective with this track. There IS something wrong with making shitty music for some god damn suburban kid's acceptance.
You can't say 'club music is his only objective' based off the information you gathered from one track. And, as a matter of fact: This isn't shitty music at all. I'd rather be in a bar listening to this then listening to 'Ay Bay Bay' or 'Party Like a Rockstar'.
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 02:50 AM You can't say 'club music is his only objective' based off the information you gathered from one track. And, as a matter of fact: This isn't shitty music at all. I'd rather be in a bar listening to this then listening to 'Ay Bay Bay' or 'Party Like a Rockstar'.
Just because it isn't AS shitty, doesn't mean it isn't shitty.
And yes, club music was his only objective for this track. How could it be anything else? He's not trying to randomly show homage to his Bay Area roots / Hyphy movement because he was artistically drawn to it. He made this shit for one reason, and we all know what it that reason is...
Hayzoos 07-17-2007, 02:54 AM He's not even from the Bay Area, he's from L.A. I have no idea why the fuck he made this song, but I'm not gonna doubt him till I hear his album.
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 02:56 AM He's not even from the Bay Area, he's from L.A. I have no idea why the fuck he made this song, but I'm not gonna doubt him till I hear his album.
ahh fuck, I knew that. I don't know what I was thinking. But that makes my argument that much stronger...
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 03:13 AM wow....the last verse is actually pretty dope. But that's all...
I have hope.
Quale 07-17-2007, 04:41 AM well, I deleted the track
no way that I'll bump this in the car
imagine then how will the song with Nitti sound
I don't understand, how you can get from Def Jux to this ...
Class!c 07-17-2007, 06:47 AM mad Homo Murs You Better Not Dissapoint On The Album !
Gold. 07-17-2007, 07:06 AM Fuck.... no wy you can defend this, absolute garbage... you're saying "well he's trying to appeal to a wider audience" maybe but he's actually a talented MC... I would expect this form someone with no talent who just wanted to make some quick money, not from someone who has been consistantly putting out dope shit for years, I mean this is way below his level. And I tell you this, if he is going in this direction his mainstream career is going to die very fast, just as it does for every snap artist. He could have at least tried to do some bearable mainstream music like kanye or nas does, that shit sells anyway. I mean, this was even bad for a snappy beat, it's actually painfull to listen to, at least a lil wayne or jeezy beat sounds good, this just sounds bad. I physically had to turn it off after aobut a minute, I couldn't actually control my hand turning it off lol.
Noyze 07-17-2007, 07:24 AM See what I'm talking about? I don't wanna hear Murs talking down on Lupe Fiasco no more about the skater shit. Hopefully the album is bearable.
Jack25 07-17-2007, 08:08 AM What is this shit
bogart 07-17-2007, 09:54 AM This is funny.
Captain Planet 07-17-2007, 10:33 AM He's not even from the Bay Area, he's from L.A. I have no idea why the fuck he made this song, but I'm not gonna doubt him till I hear his album.
co-sign ...
the song is shite but as Jack said i'm not going to doubt him till i hear his whole album ...
Red Gone Wyld 07-17-2007, 10:42 AM murs is garbage, has always been garbage, and always will be garbage.
Speak. 07-17-2007, 10:43 AM ^fuck outta here
this shit is funny... but sad.
im from the bay, dont really love hyphy... but jeez this is wierd
It's a bad song, but smh @ "I think I wanna shoot myself" and "there is no hope" and shit like that posted early in this thread, its a shame that he may be selling out but maybe this might just be like this to have a single and the rest will be better, remember, he is on a major now
Not saying thats a good thing, but thats just how shit works
(BTW, the rapping wasn't even that bad, it was the beat that makes this song unlistenable, so fuck out of here with "there's no hope")
edit: I will say this, if there's other hyphy producers on the album I won't bother though, due to my perpetual hate of anything associated with hyphy due to the destruction of E-40 making good music
X-NINE 07-17-2007, 07:09 PM This song stirred up alot of emotions huh.....
I still dont see wtf yall are mad about, other than the fact its a hyphy sounding track.......

This is like Immortal Technique signing to a major label and dropped a "head bussa / crunk" track. That's why it's so disturbing.
Donmega 07-17-2007, 07:42 PM This track was only made to sell records. But perhaps the rest of the album is going to be completely the opposite of this.
Don't judge this man too quickly.

But folks is trippin real hard, cuz I alredy posted an interview of Murs months ago saying he was gonna hook up with Droop-E, Rick Rock, and a variety of producers to make his project "The Most Cohesive Album Possible".......Im just suprised that he's rappin over a banger for once, which is somethin no one expects from Murs
Least he switchin it up for a change......
Hayzoos 07-17-2007, 07:44 PM Ok, I listened to this for a second time, and it wasn't as bad as when I first heard it. I think I was just in shock the first time.
Ama-gi 07-17-2007, 07:48 PM Ok, I listened to this for a second time, and it wasn't as bad as when I first heard it. I think I was just in shock the first time.
yeah. The 2nd and 3rd verse weren't bad
Tommy Bunz 07-17-2007, 08:07 PM yeah. The 2nd and 3rd verse weren't bad
Except the hook destroys any credibility any verse on the song contains....
X-Nine...if you don't consider this selling out...than what do you?
Donmega 07-17-2007, 08:08 PM Didn't Dras post a video of Murs in the studio with Snoop Dogg recording a song? That song sounded dope.
See, another reason that proves I'm right. I ain't giving up on this man b/c of 1 single
X-NINE 07-17-2007, 08:54 PM X-Nine...if you don't consider this selling out...than what do you?
Im not in the mindset as 90% of the dudes in this thread
Selling out is like what MOBB DEEP did......They signed the deal with G-Unit, and watered down their material, made forced songs that wasnt them, and make 'Blood Money' all for the paper, they got what they wanted, but had to change up their image to get that by suckin dick....
Murs aint suckin no dick here, this is ONE track.....This doesnt mean shit, cuz you dont know, or none of us know how the album will turn out till ya hear it....and it said it himself he has good intentions with his signing with Warner : To bring better music to the mainstream....and I know he wouldnt go against what his name stands for 'M.U.R.S. = Making Underground Raw Shit....So no, he has not sold out......thats jumping to conclusion too fast

No, MURS = Most Underground Rap Sucks
PAX DECEPTICVS 07-17-2007, 10:41 PM This isn't as bad as it could have been, cause he said, "Pick up a book."
Nah, this was pretty awful for Murs' standards, but I still enjoyed it, and that's all that really matters. That Rick Rock beat wasn't the best.
Devils Advocate 07-17-2007, 10:51 PM This song is terrible.
The beat is shit, and the hook is annoying as hell.
I don't even listen to Murs, so I'm not bashing him for selling out because I have not listened to his old stuff.

Exactly........
Dreadlocks > Ay Bay Bay, Lean Wit It, And every bullshit affiliated dance.......And the fuckin song had actuall meaning to it, and it still sounds like Murs to me, just over an entire new beat......
I think some of yall need to re-define 'Sellout' cuz I dont think theres a proper definition for the term
