how do you tell your folks that you dont think college is for you? I believe that it is a BIG stepping stone for some people but i believe for me it would be a waste of time and money.
I had a year a while ago then i stopped so i could hustle and make money and now im doing good and my fam wants me to go back. Fuk that! How do i tell em?
Has anyone else had to do something like this?

tell them...you dont want to waste money on an education that isn't going to support you and your family
instead, you want to work really hard, so they can have a comfortable retirement?
or you can tell them to fuck off

Say you have cancer, or consider trade school instead.

..Man, I can definitely see what you're saying. Right now you're making decent money and you're not seeing the immediate benefits of going bacc to college. Your parents, on the other hand, are looking at the long term. I did the same thing. I went to school for a while then walked out. I worked and had some real shit jobs until I landed this one. I'm now bacc in school (on a large ass loan), but the money I can make in my field even before I graduate will be worth it. It's a job I wouldn't mind going to everyday and there are tremendous opportunities to advance once I get the proper certifications and degrees..
..In the end, I realized that your parents want to make sure you can take care of yourself and a family in the future once they're gone. It's for their peace of mind. If you didn't know, more and more people are getting degrees and the bar is being raised. The cost of living is increasing and wages don't reflect this accordingly. It's best to get a degree now because getting one when you're 30yrs old is difficult..
..In the end either you go bacc to school and get ATLEAST a Bachelors or you stay out of school and pray that you can land a job that pays $20/Hr and has incredible job security where someone with better qualifications won't take your position, because the job market will not be friendly to those without a college education..
..Stay up..

The problem these days isn't actually going to school to get a good job. It's the fact that it's pretty damn hard to find a job (and keep one) nowadays.

yeah you right. My brother has a degree now but still makes no more than the average person without a degree. He is just more marketable and it scares me because what ol boy said could be true. Soon enough you wont be able to get a fucking minimum wage job without a degree. But i work for myself so for now i have nothing to worry about but it would be nice to get some real skills like computer programming which is what i always wanted to do.
And going to college is fun as fuck. You get to meet a lot of people and party. The one year i had was fun.

Worst comes to worst you could always consider a job in sales. I was selling gas and hydro for The Energy Savings Group, and though it was door to door, I made just under $11,000 in the first three months I was there. If you have a good attitude and think you have the right personality, commissioned sales is a good route to take until you figure things out.

Computer engineering is a pretty good major. With good grades, you should be getting mad internships by your second year of the Electromechanical Engineering degree. By bro makes around 4-500 per week in the summer. A little less during the yr. With a major like this, you can work almost anywhere, get a job fast. Pickin some shitty major like business will not cut it.
