we're not. I hate how you and Decoy hate anything with samples. And if you can't name 10 then I assume you only know those 8 records making that so called favourites list completely null and void. Cause if you really couldn't be bothered then you'd probably just pick 2 more arbitrarily to finish off the list.

Damn, how could I forget Infamos and Mobb Deep period? Their early production was the shit (Spread Love, thats my jam) but it got monotonous after awhile. They definitely had some of the best production back in the day, especially coming out of NY.

Hell yeah that album is a near classic to me, the lyrics were the only thing that brought the album down. Some of Diddy's lyrics werent too bad though since Biggie wrote most if not all of them.

You say that as if "lyrics" aren't an integral part of any album...especially a rap album.

people need to chill with calling any album that doesn't suck a "classic"

The lyrics are an integral part, which is why I can't call that album a classic. I'm not sure if I would call that a "rap album" anyways, half of it is straight up pop music.

If the lyrics aren't straight then there goes half the album's worth. That's what he's saying. So how could it be a near classic?

Ok I see what you mean. The lyrics aren't terrible imo, I probably made it sound that way in my original post so my bad. Beat wise that album is 5/5, lyrically 3.5-4/5, so overall 4.25-4.5/5. Near classic.

Tribe - "Midnight Marauders"
Nas - "Illmatic"

Muggs, Quik, E-Swift, RZA, Pete, Juju, Lord Finesse, Extra P, Primo and all them produced great LP's, but all they LP's had @ least one throwaway.

Sermon & Evil Dee also did a gang of good albums, but there was always a few meh-type joints left. That Yellow EPMD tape was close though.

And even though there's some real bad throwaways, I feel like I gotta mention my nominee for most slept on album beats....

Heavy D - "Blue Funk" LP

i hope that i dont get any hate from saying this... but i wasn't really feeling the beat on Big L's album. DangerZone, Street Struck, and MVP are the beats a really like.
