I was trying to find the Ali G map of the world because that is hilareous but all I found was a map of Staines, haha. That book was great, hours of laughter.

Part of out natural ignorance isn't necessarily a lack of education or 'intelligence' it's a geographical issue.

I think most of the world (Europe, Asia, North Africa, Middle East) know where most nations are, because of the history they share with those nations and the proximity they have with those nations.

Most Americans know where Mexico, Canada, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean are, because that's all we really need to know, lol.

Also, I think a lot of those street segments (they even do them over here on TV, showing how stupid americans are) are edited very well.

When someone on the street says "Oh yeah, Australia...that's in Africa, right?" and the audience laughs, the audience gets the joke, lol.

So clearly, we're not all that ignorant.

A lot of Americans seem to believe a lot of ridiculous stereotypes I've noticed.

..Seeing that I'm still in my Rant-Mode..

..One thing I've never liked about America is national narcissism. Did you know that we learned American history in the islands? Did you know that we learned European history in the islands? I came to the United States as a child and knew most of the States/Capitols. I can tell you right now that every single one of the "grown" Americans I've conversed with since Middle School (with the exception of maybe 7) does not know where the Lesser Antillies lies or can name atleast 3 islands that make it up..

..Pitiful..

I could probably name most states in America. I knew the names of all the countries in Europe, South America, and most of the African and Asian nations by the time I was 12. Not that I'm boasting(frivolous) or anything but I think people should have a decent standard of Geography knowledge.

^ I agree, but to each their own. I wish more people knew geography, so everytime you made a reference regarding a country they weren't like "huh?" but that's not the way it is.

Damien, you're right too. Narcissism is the perfect word for it.

It is a shame.

The United States government seems to be more concerned with making drudges of its own people that will uphold this diluted image of capitalism and democracy so the hidden powers can just become more dominant.

^ Not to get political, but I mostly blame liberals for this.

They're more concerned with teaching kids about sex education in kindergarten, than they are concerned with teaching them about the world they live in.

I blame the jews.

EDIT: But seriously though, most of the people in the clips Breeze was talking about do seem to pertain to one class and race, to my recollection.

An australian show i was watching went to the usa and asked people who looked intelligent on the streets where famous shit was such as the great wall of china , the leaning tower of pisa, and the eiffel tower, and none of them knew.. and then the aussies would say they are all in australia, and then the people would be like "oh yeah of course i thought so", and "oh really, oh i thought that was from europe or something but wow yeah australia has some amazing sites"...
