Zed is the most common pronunciation of the letter Z for the majority of English-speaking people outside of the United States (where it is pronounced "zee".

Nah I say Jay Zee, but that's because I hear it, and know his name is pronounced like that.

And I just read that the pronounciation of the letter J as Ji is more prominent in Scotland and Ireland.

In the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States), Z (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z) is pronounced zee; in most other English-speaking countries it is pronounced zed, which spoils the final rhyme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhyme). (This is also the case when it is sung in French (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_language), where "y and z" becomes "i-grec, zed".) Generally the absent zee-rhyme is not missed, although some children use a zee pronunciation in the rhyme which they would not use elsewhere. Variants of the song exist to accommodate the zed pronunciation. One variation shortens the second line and lengthens the last, to form a near-rhyme between N (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N) and zed:
a-b-c-d-e-f-g h-i-j-k-l-m-n o-p-q, r-s-t u-v-w, x-y-z Now I know my "ABC's", Next time won't you sing with me Other variants make significantly more changes in order to rhyme with zed, and even alter the rest of the song to fit a new rhythm. For example[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphabet_song#_note-2):
a-b-c-d-e-f-g h-i-j-k-lmnop lmnop-q-r-s-t u-v-w-x-y-z x-y-z Butter on your bread If you don't like it You'll have to go to bed.
Abroad

Another Variation of this song is (to the same tune, also used in Germany)
a,b,c,d,e,f,g h,i,j,k,lmnop, q,r,s,t,u,v,w x,y,z ''z-(as in zed) Now I know my Alphabet Come along and sing with me The Alphabet Song as learned by many children in Japan is sung as:
a-b-c-d-e-f-g h-i-j-k-l-m-n o-p-q-r-s-t-u v-w, x-y-z with many variations of the last two "now I know my A-B-C's" lines.

if someone said spell 'ziggy' aloud, i'd say "zee"-i-g-g-y"... but if someone said "what's that letter" (pointing at 'z') i'd say "zed".

I definitely say Zee

I've heard of Zed before, but up until this very moment, I've never given it any thought, mostly assuming that everyone pronounced it the same way I do

what else is wrong with you people? I hear you have to gather rocks before you can weigh yourselves and your height is based on the size of your hands

..You are one hilarious muthafucka'.
..You know that? It's true. It's damn true..

..But depending on who I'm speakin' to or what mood I'm in, I would say it either way. I grew up hearing "Zed" until I moved here. My father also says nought instead of zero..

You pronounce it depending on the sentence and your backgroung and how you speak so I dont really think it matters which one you use...I usually say "zee" but say "zed" at other times.Way I see it is as long as the statement you are makin males sense at the end of the day there should be no problem
