Now I don't wanna ask which song you like better.
I want to know who you think did the whole human/gun comparison better... 2Pac or Nas?

I Gave You Power is one of the greatest songs of all time. Easy choice.

Yeah I read that aswell... always found it kind of ironic how he accuses Nas to have bitten his style in a song on the same album

I Gave You Power by FAR!!!

Nas' shit was way more lyrical, Pac's shit had a lot more passion....but I'm picking Nas....

i just have to say that don't compare pac's lyrics to nas...it's just pointless. nas kicks pac's ass lyrically, and nas is king of personification

when i heard 'me and my girlfriend' i had no idea that he was talking about a gun though, so i was kind of like 'really??' when i found out, ha.

^^^I think the subtlety of Pacs metaphor in the track is a testament to it's execution...

I always thought I Gave You Power was sick (Stray Bullet coined the idea anyway), but when I go back and listen to these songs Me and My Girlfriend is just on another level... it not only portrays the personification, but the mindstate of the people around it, and turns it into a love song of desperate measure - goin' out shootin'. It's so ridiculously well-mixed in a cinematic way, and the delivery just cements it..

I think Pac was gankin' the idea to say "this is how it's done"... same as when he got the same Rakim beat for Troublesome '96 as Nas had on If I Ruled the World.

I like "Me and My Girlfriend" better. I am a fan of both MC's, but I like Pac better, and Pac's song I think was better because he just rapped it with more passion than Nas. Nas' track was nice, but Pac's was fire, hence Jay Z takin the beat years later.

yeaa that's what i meant, that's why i wasn't sure who's was better because pac had it covered i didn't even know it was a gun vs nas' technical skills

quick question what was the song that Pac sampled from Rakim for that Troublesome beat

This make no since, and why the hell do everybody keep saying i like Pac passion. I mean, i may be wrong but he isnt the only rapper to rap with passion.. wtf, give me a break

true but i thought of this...

No matter how uplifting or decadent the subject matter was, Tupac always captivated, always. To this very day, no other rapper before or since has been able to capture that kind of passion and charisma he possessed.

this maybe one of the limited reasons why tupac was so popular. he's not the only one with it but it is rare... say.. royce da 5 9. he's a beast on the mic, but one of my fav tracks from him is TODAY...imo it's one of the rare opportunites where his voice (passion as you would call it) connected with me

i'm sick of the word 'passion' :$

yea... only heavy 2pac stans would vote for "Me and my Girlfriend "
