View Full Version : [SOLVED] I think my computer brokeded (HELP!) (Lots of RW Ca$h + Rep)...
.majiK™ 10-11-2007, 10:26 PM I'm on my brothers laptop right now and I got a problem with the PC. It's a Dell.
-
When I turn it on, the Dell loading screen comes on like usual (Takes a little while lnger than usual though). Then it flips to that empty black screen and in white letters says
"Intializing MBA. Press Ctrl + Alt + B to configure..."
Screen goes away and another one comes up that says
"Managed PC Boot Agent (MBA) v4.31 (BIOS Integrated)
(C) 2000 Lanworks Technologies Co. a subsidary of 3Com Corporation.
All rights reserved.
Pre-boot eXecution Environment (PXE) v2.41
(C) 1999 Intel Corporation.
(C) 2000 Lanworks Technologies Co. a subsidary of 3Com Corporation.
All rights reserved."
Then a little while later on the same screen it says
"PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable"
Then you hear two loud beeps and flips to a new screen that says
"strike F1 to reboot, F2 for setup utility"
-
And I'm in this cycle... help? F1 just starts the cycle over, F2 and CrtlAltB where no help... to me at least. I restart the computer, nothing.
RW Cash, rep, whatever can be given...
.majiK™ 10-11-2007, 11:14 PM Yeah lol.... good timing.
I googled PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cables a little while ago and came up with this: http://www.nocrash.com/ncbbs/msgs/3247.shtml.
They got their shit down and I didn't know exactly how they did it.
Soo... how do you reset BIOS?
» Restoring the Setup Defaults on a Dell Precision™ Workstation by Entering the BIOS
If you have changed the options inside of the System Setup and are unsure what the settings should be, there is an easy way to reset the original factory settings without having to confirm every settings page. To reset the default configuration, perform the following steps:
Restart your computer.
At the first text on the screen, or the Dell logo, press the <F2> key every three seconds until the message Entering Setup appears. The System Setup screen appears.
Press the <Alt> + <F> keys simultaneously to load the factory defaults. The system emits a beep tone to indicate that the factory defaults have been restored.
Note: Before proceeding, verify that the time, date, and year are correct and verify that the Secondary Drive 0 option is set to Auto.
Press the <Esc> key and then press the <Enter> key to save your changes and exit.
The system reboots.
Note: When you restart back into a Windows® operating system, a New Hardware Wizard window may appear. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish booting into Windows.

Try that first....... You don't have a start up disk or the software that came with the laptop?

.majiK™ 10-18-2007, 11:32 PM Thanks for the help y'all but nothing worked for me so far but I'm not good with computers so I'm getting my homie to check it out soon.
Illustrate 10-20-2007, 02:45 AM I know it may sound wierd but try reconnecting the cables connected to your HDD and from your HDD to your Motherboard
alot of people are having HDD cable Errors come up as this code
EBOLA 10-20-2007, 05:12 PM Might sound rash but you might want to just try wiping the whole lot by entering the Operating system (e.g. windows XP) CD in the PC at start up.
P.S. Dell PC's are REALLY good-just there customer support that is fucked up!
Illustrate 10-21-2007, 01:50 AM Dell PC's are shit if anything their customer support is the best around
I mean if your Dell fucks up (which is 99% likely to happen) it is very easy to Google your Error and come up with a working solution within minutes because 100 other people have already had that problem

DING DING DING!
cept for the dell part.
Doesn't Ever Last Long.
I made that up myself :D
EBOLA 10-21-2007, 07:13 AM Dell PC's are great. We've had a few now and never had a problem!
.majiK™ 10-21-2007, 05:48 PM Word is bond, customer support is shit. Niggas linked me to some bitch in Bangladesh or the Filos, I think, last time I called.
Shit is the same every time I call Dell... there's 3 Dell computers in my crib. One laptop, and 2 PCs. One of the PCs harddrives crashed once but that was under warranty. This is the second HD crash now (or whatever it is), no warranty.
I'ma just go with putting my os cd in that bitch..
I tried everything that was suggested in this thread before by the way, thanks for trying y'all.
EBOLA 10-22-2007, 08:42 AM Cool, don't forget to back up all your shit to an external hard drive or DVD's though cuz EVERYTHING will get wiped when you reinstall windows!
Also agree about the customer support, its wank!
EVERYTHING will get wiped when you reinstall windows
Umm no.
Only if you chose to format your hard drive before reinstalling. XP, by default, only deletes the files that belong to the operating system (The WINDOWS folder). The rest of the files stay there.

Yeah you are right, sorry i fucked up.
.majiK™ 10-31-2007, 04:58 PM This is done, it can be closed.
I tried putting in the OS CD but it didn't work with the HD so I knew that it had to be fucked up... ended up buying a new HD.
Not bad though, 250GB Internal SeaGate HD for $60.
