Ghostface

You'd think all would be well in the land of the Wu-Tang Clan right now. The Shaolin set finally settled on a date for their long-delayed The 8 Diagrams comeback. But if you ask Ghostface Killah, things actually aren't that sweet with the Wu. Ghost is fuming that the group's album is set to drop on the same date as his next solo album, The Big Dough Rehab. According to him, he had that date already secured, but setbacks with the Wu project planted The 8 Diagrams on the same day. And now he's not budging, he said. At all.

"I had December 4 for the longest," he explained. "But the Wu album, brothers was kinda late on doing whatever they were doing and pushed it back ... on my date. You can put this in there, I'm not [mad at] all the members. It's not based on the members, but the hierarchy at Wu-Tang Clan is on some bullsh--. They trying to f--- around and make me push my album back and doing all this. But n---as ain't f---ing around or give us money when we did them Wu-Tang tours. The first one, they paid us after a while, but this last one, n---as is holding onto a lot of money. And [they're] upset based on that. It's a battle right now." Ghost did not specify exactly which Wu members are the "hierarchy."

"The Big Dough Rehab is my album," he continued. "8 Diagrams is their album. But it ain't got nothing to do with the regular members. 'Cause I love Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Genius, all them. But it's on right now."

Ghost said he's frustrated because his album would have been finished by now had he not chosen to be loyal and go on tour with the Clan over the summer as part of the Rock the Bells ticket with Rage Against the Machine. He even claimed Steve Rifkin, who signed the group to Loud and is releasing their latest album, put calls in to execs in hopes of stopping Ghost's album from seeing the light of day. (Inquiries made to Rifkin's office had not been returned as of press time.) In the meantime, Ghost is moving ahead with his album. The first single, "Celebrate" — featuring Kid Capri and produced by Sean C. — should be leaking soon, he said. Others set to contribute to The Big Dough Rehab are Scram Jones, Raekwon and Method Man.

Ghost is also set to drop a book, "The World According to Pretty Toney," on December 4. The book — based on skits from MTV2 — will feature Ghost dishing out his particular brand of advice on a number of topics, from gambling to education. As far as Ghost's participation on The 8 Diagrams, though, so far he's only jumped on a handful of tracks.

"I got on some of them," he said. "A few of them. ... N---as better pay my f---ing money. Matter of fact, they can keep the money — just get me out of their life right now. They can keep that money, it's all good now. I don't even wanna talk about it no more." ...

Shiiit hopefully Ghost doesn't blow this up and ruin it for us Wu fans, although if what he says is true, he is getting fucked over.

Ghostface is probably my favorite member of the Wu, but he definitely is the primadonna of the group. I'm sure some of it is true, but he is most likely blowing it out of proportion.

Now that I think about it, fuck him for bitching about the tours....motherfucker didn't even show up for Rock The Bells in his own city

Didn't show up to the Boston Rock the Bells show either, I thought our city was the only one, sounds like a pattern to me... if you don't show up Ghostface, you DON'T get paid lmao. He probably wants the same pay as the rest of the Clan who actually showed up to every show.

I originally had read interviews with RZA where he was almost basically saying that Ghost wasn't going to be involved with the next Wu album, and had only done a couple verses so far... this was like 3, 4 months ago tops. I figure, this must have been the tension and drama it was talkin' about.

All "bands" go through this kinda shit though, right? I remember that Forever was supposed to be a concept album, like a street opera, thought up by RZA, but the rest of the clan wasn't feeling the idea. It happens.

They shouldn't infringe on Ghost like that... that's grimey. He's keepin' Wu alive more than anybody, and he shouldn't get robbed for sales, when people with only enough money for 1 album come to the store and only buy the Wu album on opening day. If it wasn't a Wu member, then why would it matter, but it is...

...but please, man... keep this group alive. I beg of you, hip-hop Gods. Make this union of holy raptrimony last forever.

I thought Ghost said his album was going to be just him?

What's all this Kid Capri shit?

^It's a guest appearance. He probably meant... no other Wu members? That would be very not good.

Ghost needs to take one for the team.

If Wu-Tang had any brains though, they would PROMOTE this heavily...

Look what the Kanye-50 thing did for their record sales...

Imagine marketing a Ghostface release along with the first Wu album in years...people would eat it up!

Ghost better move his ass or he's taking a blow to the pocket.

Really, move your album for the good of the group... It's really not that big of a deal.

Nah guys.

I disagree with almost all of you. Wu, RZA in particular, is fucked up for doing this. I'm saying RZA because it's obvious he's who Ghost is referring to. Ghost has been dropping album after album...

Nobody in Wu has. He's been gridnin' his ass off, he had this date set, and they kinda fucked him. Yeah, he's actin' like a bitch about the whole tour deal...

But he wasn't bitching when he did. Like he said, he made a sacrifice. The only reason he's complaining now is because this is "the last straw" in his eyes.

the first wu tang album when it came out, it shook up my world i never did look at hip hop the same and it explains the hip hop i listen to today, but at some point the wu tang as a hole like PE, and NWA and other great groups from the past, things must come to an end some time,

lets be real, ghost dont need the wu right now, the wu needs ghost, since ghost is the only one out the clan putting out anything worth a damn these days, check his catalogue, ironman, supreme, bulletproof wallets, pretty toney, and both fishscale joints, who out the wu can even come close, honestly

the cream always rises to the top, just being honest, i will still buy the new wu album just out of loyalty but im not expecting too much to be honest with you, and i know the next ghost joint will be better then the group thing anyway, as have his other albums, point blank

move on the wu aint back and aint comin back, it ended for the juice crew, nwa, pe, and run dmc, its over and been over for the wu tang as a group for years now, with exceptions from those groups ghost is like what dre and cube was to nwa, and what kool g rap and kane are for the juice crew, you dont see none of them begging for any reunion albums, the reason is they know its over

do your thing starks
