Shitty list but out of that one probably pearl jam...
I liked godsmack's first album but they got tired after that and lost what originality they had. They are a decent rhythim guitar band but honestly not someone who should go up for the best.

Chilli peppers to me are unique but not the greatest.

Metallica fell on their faces after load and besides they started in the 80s. You can't count them, if you count metallica you should count better bands from that era such as faith no more.
Patton oswald still makes dope fucking music.. Even his trip hop experiment peeping tom was sick.

Nirvana just wished they were the Pixies.

While Nirvana was obviously heavily influenced by the Pixies, you can hardly stand by your statement, the two bands are very different.

Nirvana drew their style from a multitude of different bands, such as the Pixies, The Meat Puppets, The Vaselines, Big Black, Green River, The Beatles, etc.

I'm a huge fan of both bands by the way.

I was being a bit flippant with the statement I made.

You're right 'bout Nirvana taking a lot of influences. I mean, they covered "Lake of Fire" and got Steve Albini of Big Black to produce In Utero. Cobain even said something about the band just being Cheap Trick with louder guitars, once. However, the bass playing of Kim Deal = a giant influence on the band. The bassline of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is eerily similar to one found in the track "Debaser", for example. What Nirvana did was bring all these influences together to create something that, some might say, is more accessible.

I'm a fan of both bands too, by the way. Just I'm more of a Pixies guy, haha.

And @ D. Down. Green Day's "Dookie" album is a punk classic.
