Got 1,000 as a budget and not sure what tv is the best. Plasma or LCD, which would be the best do you think?

Aren't LCDs way better than Plasma's nowadays. Plasma's are too much hassle, since you have to fill it up with plasma-gas and then images can permanently burn into the screen. LCDs have the exact same clarity without the disadvantages (I think).

Goto a store such as 'Richer Sounds' or Dixons and check out the screen in person, make sure it comes with digital. Then buy it online because it will be way cheaper.

I'm not sure about specific TV brands. :(

Currently the top TV brands are Sony, Toshiba, and Phillips.

I'd go with a LCD @ about 35-40"

^ Well HD is a given... you don't buy a 1000$ LCD without HD.

Samsung is another good company. there's a whole PCWorld article on LCD Tv's and quality and what'not.

I have been shopping for the last 3months for a new tv for my living room so i can move my 65" sony into the bedroom.

Let me tell you every single store i have gone to, the toshiba's have looked better by far. They have great reviews on product quality an excellent customer service reputation. I bought an hd dvd played made by them that i dropped bringing into the house. I called them once i relized it didnt work and they just shipped me a new one. No questions asked no hassle and they even sent me a free shipping label and pick up number so i wouldnt even have to ship it. UPS picked it up at my door.

Great company that happens to make great products. Nowadays this is unheard of. ....

yea after extensive research, i decided to go for lcd, probably 42'' or 47'' screen. i prefer Phillips as a brand though.
