Afeni Shakur, the mother of slain rapper and actor Tupac "2Pac" Shakur, was recently interviewed by XXL magazine for the seventh anniversary of her son's death. Tupac Shakur was shot and mortally wounded in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada in September of 1996. No one has ever been charged with the crime but Afeni Shakur believes her son's killer is dead.

Shakur told XXL, "I think the person who killed Tupac, I think he's dead. But beyond that, if I'm wrong and it's somebody else, I still believe that that person has to carry that. What I know about the criminal justice system in America is that they cannot punish him like God is going to punish him."

Although Afeni Shakur wasn't specific, she may have been referring to Orlando Anderson, the man that Tupac Shakur and his entourage beat up several hours before Shakur was shot. Anderson, who was questioned by Las Vegas police following the shooting but released, was killed less than a year later in a Los Angeles shooting.

Afeni Shakur added that she buried Tupac's ashes on her farm in Lumberton, North Carolina, saying, "Yesterday, which was June 16, 2003, we put Tupac's ashes in the ground after seven years... And we pray that people will allow him to be gone. I think we should let him be. He earned it."

In the interview, Afeni Shakur shared some intimate details of her son's last hours, "Tupac was never conscious from the time I saw him. He was never conscious. I believed that he would make it through because the doctor said that even with one lung, Tupac was extremely healthy and strong, and it was entirely possible that he could recover if we could put him somewhere quiet for six months. We were prepared to do that, but Tupac's organs started to shut down. Once they tried to take Tupac out of the coma, and Tupac started to fight, we believe that Tupac was not interested. Tupac died seven times and they revived him seven times, and then I asked the doctors to allow him to be. And that's what we did. We let him be."

In related news, Tupac: Resurrection, a two-hour documentary on the rapper's life, will hit theaters this fall. The film was produced by Afeni Shakur and MTV Films. A book with the same title is also slated for release in conjunction with the film.

Put him away for 6 months? Isn't it somewhere on one of Pacs songs where he says some shit like "plan shit 6 months in advance"...? I do remember hearing that. He died 7 times, and they revived him 7 times? C'mon now... There go thoes damn 7's again. I think it's bullshit.. Now, someone be stupid enough to say thats COINCIDENTAL that he died 7 times, and they brought him back 7 times... That ain't no god damn coincidence.. Get the fuck out of here.

see, i just cant see why a mother would remember (let alone TELL IN AN INTERVIEW) how many times her son was revived?, seems like the kind of details that people _shouldnt_ know about

Tupac died seven times and they revived him seven times

That's impossible.. If he died seven times and was also revived seven times, then Tupac would be alive. Think about the pattern..

died 1
revived 1
died 2
revived 2
died 3
revived 3
died 4
revived 4
died 5
revived 5
died 6
revived 6
died 7
revived 7

^ See, he'd still be alive. He could have died seven times, but only revived six. Anyway, that was a really great interview. Especially since I just finished watching hisnew movie.. Thanks Tornado..

You kidding? Her son died. She held him inside her own body for nine months. I mean, she raised him his whole life. Tupac was a product of her being. I think she'd remember every little detail about his death. I don't see how you couldn't see that. When you're THAT close to a person, you tend to remember EVERYTHING.. Especially in a situation like that one.

i cant see 2pac bein alive cuz what kinda a mother would lie. but MISCHIEVEUS has a good point about dieing 7 times and revived 7 times.

HA! Maybe thats what she wants you to think. Think about it, she along with maybe 3 other people would know if Tupac is alive, maybe Tupac told her to make a movie about him and that he would help because he owns a film studio in like eusophia or some country like that, and if she told the public that, that would assure everyone who thought he was alive, was dead. Not me, I'm not buyin it, I'm sayin Tupac is alive, and it was set up, and plus Pac prolly needed some of the money, think about it, hidin out all these years would be expensive as hell as far as disguises and what not. I saw he is alive and that she said that to TRY to assure the public he was dead, not buyin it yo, sorry.

GOOD FUCKIN POINT MAN, MAKES A HELL OF A LOT OF SENSE, I MEAN IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, TUPAC LEFT SO MANY CLUES ABOUT HIS "DEATH", MAYBE THIS WAS ANOTHER ONE, I STILL SAY IT WAS A SETUP. NICE OBSERVATION DAWG.

Its not lyin, its doin as her son wishes, if he wants his death to be unknown, who better to acknowledge that and speak out for it, his mother, and ignorant people would just see that side of it, but not really that she is doin as he wishes until he returns or doesn't.
