Ok, I just got this game for the PC, and it's pretty fuckin confusing with all the server shit, and the controls, especially considering I don't play PC games, so I'm completely lost when it comes to all this shit. If anyonw can direct me to some good strategy guides, or give me tips or whatever, it would be much appreciated.

In the CS theres only a couple things you need to know;

1. You need to know the "battle points" of each map (where both teams meet)
2. Jump and shoot when in a close battle
and theres more buts it late and im lazy

Its really not a hard game once you get the hang of it; I used to play CS alot but my computer just cant handle it anymore. DOD used to be my game though.

Another quick tip is when you're low on cash, buy the gun but no extra ammo. If and when you kill someone, press G to drop your weapon, then pick up there's which will most likely be ammo filled.

Another tip, if your new to the game just use the P90, you can't miss. Also when your running towards corners, aim your cross-hair at height level just next to where someone could step out. Then if they do step out, you've got a guaranteed kill since they will still have to aim.

90% of people on the game use the M4 & AK-47 for good reason, get good with them guns, they are the best at all ranges, pack a punch, accurate, good for taking out multiple dudes.

Ya that's another thing I was wondering about, the radar. On the radar, all there really were a couple of T's, and I had no idea what were my team mates, and who were my enemies.

Also, does the game even have a campaign mode, or is it strictly online multiplayer?

CS:CZ has somewhat a campaign mode, but it doesn't feel anything like the real game.

-Blue dots = your teammates

-Flashing blue/yellow dots = your teammates either talking (audio chat or quick chat) or throwing a grenade.

-Blue "T" = your teammate is above you

-Blinking red dot/T = bomb is on the ground (terrorist only)

Are grenades not available in some levels? Cause I never even saw them as an option. And what's with the little shopping cart icon that comes up? Whenever I try to buy something, it does nothing at all.

To buy something, you've got to be in one of the buy zones (or the shopping cart). Some servers strict the buy zones to t/ct's only. Pressing B in those zones brings up the buy menu. Most of the "good" or longtime cs players have binds and scripts that allow them to buy certain weapons and equipments with the press of a button to quickly buy.

Also, some servers have the ability to restrict certain weapons and items. Some will even go as far as doing a weapons vote (voting whether this or that weapon will be legal). Most of the noob servers restrict the awp, auto, and smoke grenade.

Honestly, IMO 1.6 is MUCH better for competition and if your computer doesn't have a good cpu and/or graphics card. Source is better for looks.

The Desert Eagle is a WORTHY Buy... it's saved my life so many times... and you typically have enough money to get both pistols and armor/frags

Yeah, source is well dodgy for the hitboxes. If you play it loads like I use to, then you'll easily get use to it. Amour is a must. Most of the time I just get amour and then stand near the back when people rush (ready to pick up their guns) :).

Wow, I just played in my first 32 player match, and saying I got raped is an understatement. I don't think I lasted over a 45 seconds to a minute once. Half the time I spent trying to find what buttons do what, switching back and forth between getting shot in the head and the controls menu. Your typical cs hacker is someone that uses either a) aimbot b) wallhacks (see through walls) or c)esp (their map shows them where everyone is). Someone that's been playing for so long and is so good that most of the people on the server consider them as a hacker because of their skill. I've been called that many times.


Oh, and since you've got CZ, you should be playing with the bots (start them on easy lol). Also, here's a good server to get a little better on.

The Deagle and the P7 or something are the best... Deagle doesn't hold a lot of bullets but if you can accurately hit him twice in the chest or once in the head... it's enough.

I like the M4, MP5 and the Famas. Here is my secret...

Activate your console like so:
Press "~" on your keyboard when in game. If that doesn't bring it up, that means it was disabled. You can either do it in the Steam settings(I think) or right click on the desktop icon of CS. Find the default path which should look like "C:\Blah Blah\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe".
Change it to "C:\Blah Blah\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -console"
Note that there is a space after the "exe".

And type this:
"cl_crosshairscale 9999" - This basically makes your crosshair really small and ideal for targeting head shots and what' not. If anyone says this is hacking, tell them to fuck off... it's using what the developers put into the game to play better.
Not really hacking, and you'll play about 40 times better. Cleaner head shots etc... Using the burst on Famas, aim near the head and you basically got him.

Always silence your M4. It decreases it's power SLIGHTLY but greatly increases chances of them not hearing you and you have much better accuracy/control of your weapon.

Yeah you usually can't buy anything 15 seconds after match starts on most servers.

It's easy to get good at CS Quickly. Just need to be a bit tactical when in maps like De_dust. Helps to learn the map and how the terrorist/ct move. Move with your team... they typically know what they are doing.

Yeah sound thing helps for hearing where the bullets are coming from and foot steps around the corners.

I think that Rainbow Six is the most tactical. But w/e lol...

I recommend NOT playing on De_dust if you're playing 1.6 or cz. It use to be a CAL map, but ever since the new maps were used, d1 has became useless, thus only css players only use it for fun. There's also a lot of glitches and tricks on the map that makes people refuse to even put it on their server. Not only that, but you'll rarely find anyone good on it. And the reason why i say 1.6 is the most tactical fps is because you have to literally earn and buy your weapons, unlike starting off with any one.

Why would I buy source? Everyone I've talked to have said it sucks and I just bought the regular one for $9.99 on the Steam website. I haven't even learned how to play yet either...

Source is definitely worth the money. I was addicted to it for about two years then we left uni and my CS life ended. :(

CS:S = great fun, graphics, alright gameplay (for being a 1.6 copy)

1.6 = great fun, new mods everyday, can work on pretty much any computer, extremely competitive, more server, more people

listen....listen very carefully....they're the SAME EXACT MAPS.

The ice block barriers on css are the same as the brick barriers on 1.6, only a different color. The character models on css are actually BIGGER than the ones on 1.6. The recoil has been decreased on all guns, thus easier spraying headshots on source. The characters also keep the same speed as 1.6, but with their drastic size increase, why wouldn't they move faster?

Read up on some info here that talks about WCG finals going up against each other, meaning source vs 1.6 players on the same maps.

My biggest criticism is that Source is, quite simply, much easier to play than 1.6 (which is why you can see top 1.6 teams beating top Source teams at their own game, but the opposite not happening).
