Ra sounds very average on the mic now. Esocra 02-22-2008, 10:34 PM ^^^^ Agreed, hook is wack - I thought hearing Rakim was sort of refreshing though... looking forward to his album. ~KO~ 02-22-2008, 10:36 PM hey Esocra... you heard anything about a Nas/Rakim collab on either of their upcoming albums? Dan99 02-22-2008, 11:06 PM Just an average track, the only thing that stands out is the title of the track corydhorton 02-23-2008, 12:14 AM I'm confused. Is it the beat that causes rappers to sound like this? If he was rapping over an old school beat would he sound better? or is it the production that gave it that old school sound? Is this what maturing sounds like, because I'm with the others who are calling it a snorefest. I guess I just really am longing for that old school sound of hip hop. ReziN 02-23-2008, 12:34 AM Lol I dont care what you guys say, I agree with whoever said that beat was whack, cause it is pretty whack, even though I do like alot of blaze tracks. Or Rakim just doesnt sound great over these kinds of beats, cause if this was one of his raw beats he usually spits over then this might of gave me a boner, cause he still spits nice. Glenn Swagmire 02-23-2008, 12:36 AM song is alright ... not something i'll listen to more than a few times this is probably from the few sessions he had with Juelz & Dipset back when he was kissing their arse a breath of fresh air i hate dumb comments like these i could see the point if you wir 30 odd and have been listening to Rakim and hip-hop for countless years and with the so called state it's in now then say it your 15 you either just found out about him or started listeing to him in the last year or 2 ago but otherwise it's alot of bollocks adding to the fact the song is not brand new thus the title of the album ~KO~ 02-23-2008, 12:42 AM actually it is refreshing because it wasn't the status quo topics... no one said its ra's best or that Ra is here to save us all... just a good record... nothing phenomenal... but a good record... can't for the album if its a teaser... XcLuSiVe! 02-23-2008, 02:34 AM Beat was cool Rakim came with the usual fire good track rep added `1 Skully Wully 02-23-2008, 06:19 AM The beat is a bit annoying. The song however is alright, it just didn't jump out like a Rakim song to me for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on it though, maybe it was just the lack of emotion or emphasis. Seemed kind of like he was rapping just to rhyme. Well at least to me it did. groundfisher 02-23-2008, 07:15 AM It was an okay song, nothing to get excited about. It's strange to me that someone else posted up new KRS and that was an okay song too but got bagged with many calls for KRS to retire etc. WTF is up with that? "We're stuck in the time of drought/nothing to rhyme about" that summed up this song for me. Rakim didn't have much to say. "Good to hear Rakim again, wasn't too impressed, the chorus was annoying" I agree with that. When he rhymes, it still sounds so effortless though. I hope he can elevate the mind like he used to. I also thought the beat was weak. Buy me a buttplug and I'll rock that instrumental. I'm still waiting to hear KRS guest on a Rakim album. But I'm also looking forward to G. Rap more than KRS or Rakim, first time I've ever said that. I won't buy any of them without a listen first. Nirvana 02-23-2008, 05:01 PM Ahh pretty good not really feeling it kind of a sleeper for me. .ScottishHead 02-23-2008, 05:16 PM Ahh pretty good not really feeling it kind of a sleeper for me.
