View Full Version : Lil Wayne ft. Cory Gunz! About time this dude got on some mainstream...
Florida Breeze 03-19-2008, 05:23 PM Cory Gunz is the shit, and who better to break into the mainstream with than Lil Wayne?
He rips this shit.

I heard Wayne's original version of this song yesterday, but adding Gunz just murders this beat!
B-Raff 03-19-2008, 05:33 PM I had a headache after about 30 seconds.
Florida Breeze 03-19-2008, 05:34 PM I got annoyed by that "millie" crap the first time I heard the song. Listen to it twice.
At least give Gunz' verse a chance.
Tu-Makaveli 03-19-2008, 05:34 PM Yeah, the song is kinda catchy at points, but ahhhhh I dunno man.
Florida Breeze 03-19-2008, 05:35 PM ^ It's definitely a mixtape song, but it's hot as fuck. I'm just thinking this means some guest spots for Gunz' on some Miami shit soon.
.ScottishHead 03-19-2008, 05:37 PM I have two Gunz mixtapes, The Apprentice vol 1 and 2, both raw as fuck beat wise, he can spit, and switch up his flow but this was a second rate, watered down track..
Tu-Makaveli 03-19-2008, 05:37 PM Yeah possibly. Its always good for someone to go on a track with wayne if they wanna break into some mainstream success. (at breeze)
Killuminati96 03-19-2008, 09:55 PM The song is kinda hot Gunz out spits Wayne in this one.
Florida Breeze 03-19-2008, 11:58 PM ^ I agree. Gunz is a really good mc, I think he's got the skills to go down as one of the greatest...too bad he's in the wrong era. He'll probably end up selling out and become pop, seeing as how that's what everyone with skill does these days.
16 Barz 03-20-2008, 01:58 AM I been liked Gunz for a minute. I got interested in Cory just because he was Peter Gunz son, and I thought Peter Gunz had an ill ass flow. Cory is better lyrically then his pops and Cory is still crazy young. Glad to see him getting some shine now finally.
Pen To Paper 03-20-2008, 02:13 AM I reckon Gunz is pretty nice. Although this was not one of his better tracks, it was still a straight verse from him
JerrodThomas 03-20-2008, 02:48 AM i think if the carter III is gunna get worked up so much, then wayne should do a lil better
Estate Captain 03-20-2008, 05:24 AM Tune is sick sample is big
Weezy came hard (no homo)
tfunit 03-20-2008, 08:30 AM Cory Gunz can spit like a motherfucker, no doubt...lil wayne can do better but he's starting to sell out.
Issues 03-20-2008, 12:52 PM weezy is straight trash
B-Rock 03-20-2008, 01:03 PM I still don't see what's so great about Lil' Wayne...
Gunz verse wasn't bad, definitely better than Lil' Wayne's verse.
Tony.. 03-20-2008, 01:13 PM Gunz did his thing.... seemed he tried to keep up w/ Wayne a bit... but imo Wayne smashed it
Florida Breeze 03-20-2008, 06:44 PM ^ Thank you. Wayne's flow was unique, and fit the beat perfectly...all ya'll haters keep hating, things never change!
Killer Cosgrove 03-20-2008, 06:47 PM More Gunz less Wayne would've been the bombay.....Infact more everything less Wayne would be the bombay.
btw No hate towards you Breeze it's..."unique" to see an avid hip hop head suppoerting an artist like Lil Wayne. Peace.

Yea agree thats very true.

I support Lil Wayne because he makes fun music, and the guy is the best mc at the moment.
As much as I hate that new "Lollipop" song he just dropped, I'm still excited for the Carter III.
No one has blown up the mixtape scene like this dude has, not for the past decade at least...
No one plays with words like this dude does...
No one's got the confidence on the microphone right now that Wayne does.
I was looking at that "Eminem scared of Wayne" thread and had a good laugh until I realized that Eminem should be scared to work with Wayne right now. Anyone in the mainstream should be scared to work with Wayne, because he steals the show on almost every track he appears on. Sometimes he has a weak effort, but when you take into account the QUANTITY of verses he's been dropping...it's perfectly understandable that for every 10 tracks he hops on, he's going to have an average or weak verse on at least one of them.

Completely agree with this.

that song doesn't bother me ... i'd rather listen to that than alot of the other shite he's on

50 Cent
Wayne has done it in more of the "internet era" probably offline aswell for Wayne but thats the era he's ruling right now ... he went a step further than Pap in that regard ..

Nah, he's made even more of a fortune off mixtapes than 50 Cent has.
For example, Wayne has become the biggest rapper right now...
And that was in the absence of an ALBUM.
His appearances haven't hurt, but he was already building momentum before he hopped on the mainstream Miami scene. T.I. was probably the most "respected" mc by "casual" fans before last summer and going back to 2004 and while T.I. has dropped two PLATINUM ALBUMS since The Carter II, Wayne has leapfrogged him, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Jay-Z and Nas as the most highly regarded mainstream mc.
Why?
Mixtapes.
I know so many people that listen to Wayne's mixtapes, that don't know a fucking thing about mixtapes, lol.
His "underground" shit is so catchy that it's mainstream.

At least one person on this site can handle the truth. Good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Agree with both of you

I wouldn't really pay attention to anything he says until he starts flowing.
Florida Breeze 03-26-2008, 12:26 PM ^ Whatever, the dude was just talking. "Oh no, Lil Wayne's got no flow in an interview with MTV Overdrive! Wackness!"
I've seen every rapper and their mother deliver their lyrics like this at one point or another. They're saying it like it's poetry, which it isn't, but who gives a fuck? It's no big deal.
