top notch song

BDK could have been thee greatest above Rakim etc ... or atleast a contender for Top 5
he had the skillset, the right producer behind him (Marley Marl) ... but once the record label seen he had the woman behind him pushed him away from his real roots which he tried to go back to with decent results but if he kept putting out the albums he fully wanted to the length of the other greats like Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One (they all have a greater discoraphy with you could atleast say 4 are top notch) he would've definetly challenged for that spot

He's an undisputed Great. His big mistake was heading in the "lover" direction with the R&B type stuff from Prince of Darkness. and while he maintained more fame than G Rap, he was still a follower as soon as the trends began to turn to the Gangsta phase.
Still though, when he went down that path he kept all his skill and i think the beats on Looks Like a Job For... (a cd i RARELY see anyone mention, but a gem nonetheless) are some of the best of the year and really helped to shape the grittier Boom Bap to come.

and since i just had this playing while i wrote, i thought i'd share, another immense classic.

[EDIT]
And speaking of Looks Like a Job For...

Big Daddy Kane is legendary though I agree Prince Of Darkness was a mistake he should have never done that R&B and soul type shit.
