people way wonder why I'd mention Canibus as an architect... well, Canibus truly defined the complex over the head rhyme style many other underground artist following him used... his "loss" to LL Cool J despite the fact that he fuckin smoked that nigga was the beginning of the decline of commercial hip hop... his freestyles are legendary, and he truly revolutionized lyricism... he is a hero to my generation of hip hop heads that wanted to see a reason to push lyricism... so yeah, I'm pickin Canibus...

He's top 10 when it comes to lyrics alone, but as I've said before his beats a lot of the time don't fit his style. His magnum opus, if you can call it that is Mic Club because it has most of his best songs, with some of his best verses and many of the beats are raw and fit his rough voice..

I believe the greatest rhyme of all time is locked somewhere in either his or my vaults... as a lyricist I respect the way he's honed his craft, so I have to appreciate him... he's like a great samurai with a shitty retainer...

Hell yeah man I love Bis. His complex rhymes are just incredible. Mic Club is my favorite album; I remembered lighting up to it once and playing Master Thesis and closed my eyes, and yo it felt like he was having a conversation with me; he's that good. But yo agree dudes great

def agree...and as everyone always says...his beat selection is just never up to par as far as blending nice with his voice and style...which is so wierd...you would think someone along the way would pick up on it since its a lot of songs on all of is albums...but still no ones touching him in a battle...only reason LL won was name and energy off the track...

Canibus has some of the best lyrics I have ever heard its a shame he never got the respect he deserved the man would have had a couple of classic albums had he had the right production and Canibus beat LL Cool J the only reason LL won was because he was more famous was an icon and had a large fan base a lot being girls of course but if Canibus and LL would have had a freestyle battle everyone would have seen who was the true winner.

He's dope, he has enough songs with nice beats so i don't really care... best lyricist i've ever heard, and his verse on Beasts From The East is one of my favourites.

Funny how this site works. First, everyone hates on Canibus then, a week later, everyone is on his dick.

On a positive note though, I'm happy you are up-ing Canibus and not some wack shit like Young Joc or some bullshit. There's still hope for you KO.

Most people don't hate on his lyrics. When they talk about canibus they always have a "but"/ I think that his lyrics are masterful. Rip the jacker enough said.

Speaking in general terms, I don't remember who said what, when, or where. I do remember a lot of anti-canibus sentiment in a recent thread.
