...And the Elvis Presley movement has been resurrected once again. If you thought Eminem was the worst of it, think again... Eminem may have "empowered" white kids to feel comfortable acting like the mackin Harvard graduates they are, but the white invasion of popular culture is just the beginning. As we all know, whites have dominated the popular underground scene for a while now. However, the key word is underground; they may dominate it, but it still don't mean shit in regards to popularity & sales. However, as the ever-growing # of Atmosphere stans proved in the last couple of months, if an underground artist @ the top keeps up the output eventually he'll find himself on the surface. Unfortunately for whoever was below this lucky artist, the clueless mainstream, amazed by the innovative-by-mainstream-standards, hail them as the 2nd coming of christ and credit them with being the ones who brought this style of music into fruition.
Atmosphere's success is in a way a harbinger of what's to come. Now that the mainstream's palette has been whetted, they want more of (insert your thoughts of Atmosphere music here) and Flobots fits the bill. Never mind the hundreds of other artists who've said exact same thing that Handlebars does and better; never mind that if you were to simply ask the Flobots who their influences are you'd have the real blueprint; that doesn't matter as the mainstream isn't any more knowledgeable than it was before Atmosphere blew up; they're just now aware that it exists. Not that they're gonna go out of their way to dig in the crates, and that's why Corporations are beginning to jump on signing little tribute groups like this.
Intrinzik 06-06-2008, 08:01 AM I bought the album last night and its raw as hell...definatly worth checking out out..

Handlebars is awful... I'm not even going to bother with the whole album.
Death Bed 06-07-2008, 01:02 AM Wow..lol so many people don't respect real lyrics...
rap_is_real 06-08-2008, 01:15 AM Bullshit, this albums tight, go listen to ya boy Plies if you don't appreciate real music.
Did I say the album (or song) was shit? All I said is that The Flobots are getting credit for a lot of people for being completely original when they're not.
Death Bed 06-17-2008, 10:21 AM ^idk how they aren't what the fuck ever....that is a stupid for sake of arguement comment...
PacoStoddard 06-18-2008, 11:34 AM I love flobots
except, Handlebars, in my opinion, is one of the worse songs on the album, and it makes me angry that that's the only song poeple have heard of, by them. I mean don't get me wrong I like that song, it's just, I like every other song just as much if not more
Bigsmokes 06-18-2008, 12:15 PM they are cool but i never knew they would climb the billboards' like that
PacoStoddard 06-18-2008, 12:18 PM yeah they really did come out of nowhere, and were like, BAM "handlebars"
now if only all of their other songs would get popular like that
Death Bed 06-18-2008, 04:26 PM Hanldebars was catchy tho....that why...radio doesn't care about good its about catchy..
sbowen12345 06-18-2008, 05:47 PM I got the new Flobots CD for a friend, and he loves it...so it can't be too bad...lol..but I don't like the way EVERYBODY just focuses on ONE of there songs and not appreciate the rest...aka Handlebars... now you got to say that, THAT is fuck up..cuz it is...lol
lacyloves 06-19-2008, 10:19 PM i hear it on the radio from time to time. it's okay.
PacoStoddard 06-20-2008, 09:27 AM Did I say the album (or song) was shit? All I said is that The Flobots are getting credit for a lot of people for being completely original when they're not.
I think I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one....because although handlebars is incredibly repetitive, I think it's a pretty original way to look at power and how it develops, and what you choose to do with it.
Captain Planet 06-20-2008, 09:38 AM one word...................awful.........
lacyloves 06-20-2008, 04:16 PM it's nice how they use their music to voice their messages about what's going on in the world. it's pretty cool. i'm definitely going to check them out. they have a great sound.
Double Deez 06-21-2008, 03:59 AM I loved Handlebars once I saw the music video, one of the few songs where a music video actually improves the song.
PacoStoddard 06-21-2008, 11:35 AM yeah, the music video really does help with knowing what the song is actually trying to say.
Death Bed 06-21-2008, 03:44 PM I think people who don't like this are closed minded or negative people..
