I think people don't give Masta Killa his due even though he is a great emcee. People complain about his slow flow & calm delivery but I've always thought that was the appealing attribute about him because it was in contrast of other Wu-Tang members (besides GZA). He shined on Wu-Tang Forever and many of his guest appearances (Duel of the Iron Mic & Winter Warz especially). I find it hard to see how anyone doesn't like this album:

Plus he dropped this amazing verse and he was just a beginner as an emcee:

Homicide's illegal and death is the penalty
What justifies the homicide, when he dies?
In his own iniquity it's the
Master of the Mantis Rapture coming at you
We have an APB on an MC Killer
Looks like the work of a Master
Evidence indicates that's it's stature
Merciless like a terrorist hard to capture
The flow, changes like a chameleon
Plays like a friend and stabs you like a dagger
This technique attacks the immune system
Disguised like a lie paralyzing the victim
You scream as it enters your bloodstream
Erupts your brain from the pain these thoughts contain
Moving on a nigga with the speed of a centipede
and injure - any motherfucking contender

So what's rapworlds' opinion on Noodles?

I always liked Masta Killa and his verse in Da Mystery Of chessboxin' is legendary its probably my favorite verse in that whole song and definitely my favorite verse from Masta Killa and both of his albums in my opinion were better than most people give it credit for but yea I agree I don't why he does not get the respect he deserves because he is better than a lot of rappers.

Yeah that verse has always been my favorite as well from Da Mystery of Chessboxin and it makes it even more impressive because he was just starting out as an emcee. I think he really gets overshadowed because he doesn't do many interviews and is very quiet.

The reason you don't hear about is that on Enter The Wu-Tang, he was not on a lot of tracks, and was overshadowed because his style was not as distinctive as other member's. Add that to the fact that he only released his solo album about 4 years ago, and other Member's of the Clan have had very successful solo careers, It isn't surprising that he isn't as well known as someone like ODB or Ghostface. No Said Date is still fucking excellent.

He was only on one track, on 36 Chambers, and Killah Priest was supposed to be on it instead but he fell asleep in the studio, so MK took over..

so... MK is Wu by default??? not to dis him, but Killah Priest would've been a better trade... him and RZA and GZA on that super righteousness would've balanced out the wild 85 ass semi god niggas in the clan...

They should have added Killah Priest to the group anyways hell throw Cappadonna in there too I mean they already had an entire roster so why stop at 9 members lol.

It is true. The story goes that Masta Killa and Killah Priest were battling for the verse on Mystery of Chessboxin, which would make them an official part of the Clan. RZA used to decide who would get on a track by having them battle or trade verses (Meth vs. Chef). MK & KP were in the studio all night and KP fell asleep. MK stood up the whole night writing his now classic verse. Priest woke up in the morning to find out that Masta Killa got the spot.

I mean if you got 9 people already, it is gonna be hard to give them all air time. It doesn't really matter anyway. Cappa & Streetlife are basically part of the group and Killah Priest has been a guest on a lot of Wu tracks & established his own solo career along w/ being the centerpiece of the Sunz Of Man.

Yeah, he may have used it on another track. The thing was MK & KP were really just starting out & both were being mentored by GZA. I'm glad it turned out the way it did because I think Priest is still very much part of Wu-Tang and always will be but he has established himself on his own as a great emcee.

yeah i wanted a solo album from all the wu members, so one day just bought both masta killas solo albums, i thought both were solid drops, nice production throughout, especially on No Said Date...

Loved these tracks from first listen:

I think everyone has basically said what i was going to say about Masta Killa. He is a dope emcee but it would be hard to garner respect especially when your in a group which has some of the dopest rappers the game has to offer.

I love masta killa in the Wu but not feeling his solo stuff (what i've heard of it)

the reason he doesn't get recognized is because his mic presence is low compared to everyone else on a track, he needs more emphasis on the track to stick out
