You guys obviously are just listening to his mainstreem anthems. Whilst I’ll admit I enjoy his anthems as much as the next guy but they are very misleading of what DMX is capable of lyrically (namely “Who we be”, “Ruff Ryders Anthem” and ‘We right here’) They are easily the weaker side of his work from a lyrical perspective even though they are presented as his main stuff.

Honestly DMX is a lyrical god, if you want to see why he’s so highly regarded then go cop some of his older stuff like “Flesh of my flesh” and “Its Dark and hell is hot” or even “Born Loser”, maybe even to a lesser degree “Then there was X”, from a lyrical standpoint DMX is the best mainstream artist alongside Ice Cube,Tupac and Nas by a long ass margin.. You can just see so vividly what he’s speaking when he raps.
