Heads have long speculated on Twista's relationship with the Roc-A-Fella family. In the last few years, the Chi-Town native has made guest appearances on virtually every Roc-A-Fella release. And while Twista's label, Atlantic Records, and The Roc initially tried to work out a joint venture similar to the Bad Boy/Def Jam 112 deal, Atlantic has since backed out. Twista ultimately suffered, seeing his CD pushed back by nearly a year.
With his new release, Kamikaze, expected to debut in the Top 10 this Tuesday, Twista received an advanced platinum award when he was "chained" by Roc-A-Fella Records CEO Damon Dash during a performance at New York's SOB's this week. Word is that Dame jumped on stage and placed an iced out Roc-A-Fella piece on Twista's neck before addressing the crowd. Dash even invited Atlantic Records president Craig Kallman to join him on stage to address the crowd. Kallman declined.
