View Full Version : Nas to Release 3 Albums in 2004
Nas: Is three the magic number?
While numerous release dates have surfaced in regard to the release of Nas' Lost Tapes 2, nothing has been confirmed. However, in 2004, look for Nas to apparently release three, yes that's right, three LP's!! First, on the menu will be Lost Tapes 2, then a conventional follow-up to God's Son in the summer, followed by Nasir, a ten-track endeavor which will see Nas handle everything for delf; no guest appearances and though he has produced a few tracks in the past ("One Mic" & "Get Down") with the help of more seasoned beat-makers, Nasir will be the first effort where Nas handles all of the production duties. Look for Nasir to be released in the fourth-quarter of 2004.
While this story was all set to gain a "platinum" rating, we went for "gold", simply because even though Nas has said this himself in interviews, I think the chances of Sony making this happen are slim, especially if the first of these releases doesn't sell over a million copies. It seems like Nas may be using this year to strike while the iron is hot, considering Jay-Z is now "retired". But we'll see how it all plays out.

More info about it from another forum:
Just when you thought God's Son's work was finished and he was going to take a breather, the nasty one is back, and this time "he's pissed".
"Rappers have been [messing] up the game since my last album, wack lyrics, wack beats, and the labels just keep putting it out," Nas said. "My mans [Bravehearts] have been hustlin from day one tryin to get they stuff out there and now [Sony] won't even lift a finger to help,"
That's why the famous East Coast rapper is taking upon himself to, as he puts it ,"fix the game". Before the years end, Nas plans to release a ten track LP (a la his debut Illmatic), tentatively titled "Nasir", featuring no other rappers, not even long time collaborator AZ or the Bravehearts. Even more surprising Nas plans to produce the entire album himself, a feat unheard of in the rap industry.
"This is my shit. Me. I don't think dudes have ever got to hear just Nas. All my other stuff had other people, either producing, rapping or just, you know, influencing me. I'm doin this whole album, lyrics, beats and everything... I'm gonna give it back to the world pure and simple, no watered down nothin. No one gonna be in the studio with me, not my brother [Jungle], not [manager] Steve, not even Escobar. Jus Nasir."
In the past Nas has tried his hand at beat making (One Mic, Get Down) but only with the guidance of seasoned producer veterans. Nas however is unfazed, saying he's been practicing for years.
"What a lot of people don't know is, I've been producing longer than I was rappin. Growing up I wanted to be a DJ but we was too poor to afford muthafuckin' turn tables so I started rhyming. But I got mad beats no one's ever heard."
In addition to "Nasir", Nas says he's been working on the "Lost Tapes 2", (the sequel to last year's fan favorite), a whole other new studio album for April (way before "Nasir" drops) & also writing a new, as of yet, untitled book.
3 albums, 1 book....2004 baby, the great street poet Nasir Jones is about to take the meaning of "rap musician" to the next level.

That 3rd album will definitely be something worth waiting for, hope these new ones live up to the other standards of his albums
no doubt, i can't wait for Lost Tapes 2, and the Nasir album where Nas produces everything from beats to lyrics......we can really see his full talent
Elldawg 02-10-2004, 11:14 PM that isnt shit...i think murderous jay did 8 albums so far in 2004

FiddyDaFutur 02-20-2004, 11:09 PM No doubt nas will rip it up in 2004, but "small-ish album, endeavor which will see him handle everything, NO guest appearances" ..... sound familiar??
R*O*Y*C*E 02-22-2004, 09:23 PM Sounds Good...three in one year..and we all thought he was gona retire...

Rap Chyld 05-02-2004, 09:17 PM thatz tight, nas iz one of my favorite rapperz, cant wait
ill_i_bus 05-05-2004, 07:51 AM if its 3 in a yr, then he should have released one in april if he wanted them spread evenly but from what i've read, the 1st one aint due out until 6th July, although it is meant to be a double album so maybe that counts, according to him, as 2 single albums? lol God's sun was tight though, more like illmatic than some of the previous ones.
Look out for a canibus album and a horsemen album this year too. There are many poetic rappers out there apart from nas who rhyme so as to make you ponder and think, check out the psycho-social biological, chemical and electromagnetic manipulation of human conciousness by JEDI MIND TRICKS.

Doobage 05-12-2004, 09:36 PM It's sad that it's taken nas like 10 years to even try to compare to biggie. People need to stop comparing themselves to dead guys
GangStarr 06-14-2004, 09:15 AM I think he will retire after these albums....
ludacris06 06-27-2004, 05:30 PM Nas better than Big?

LastEmperor 09-05-2004, 08:23 AM if he drops 3 albums in one year it makes you question if he is gonna put his all into each album if he is makin them so quickly. he spent like 3 years makin illmatic.
