Two things that piss me off about a post like this. First of all there are way too many people who sit & disect lyrics just for the faintest call-out from an artist, and then sprint to their computer as fast as possible in order to tell the world about this so called "beef?!?!" Second of all, is artists like this ignorant fuck who drone on and on like a stuck record playing the same track; "Eminems-a-racist-who-is-blatantly-raping-black-music". - Straight outta the source magazine. A good contradicting example would come in the form of one guy, Mr T.Woods. Theres no doubt in my mind that there were black people playing golf before Tiger Woods came along. Just the same as there were white people on BET before Marshall Mathers was born. Yet both these individuals have succeeded with such magnitude that it turns heads. In my opinon (as a white person) BOTH these people have done a whole lot of good for their varying industries. Tiger Woods has caused thousands of not only black kids to become interested in the sport, just as Eminem has brought hip-hop across the globe to not only white kids' interest. The difference is that where 90% of white people embrace what Woods has done for the sport, there are way more than 10% of black people who hold an opinon such as the one above. Why cant people (as humans) get past this? It is also interesting how hip-hop is an artform invented, and predominantly practiced by black people so is regularly referred to as "Black Music". And Golf is a sport invented, and predominantly practiced by white people, yet is rarely referred to as "White Sport". I hope nobody found this opinion racially disrespectful as i am only criticising people as humans, not as a colour.

Sounds like it to me. Unless of course, there is another "best rapper" light skin/white he could be referring to?
Maddhatter 05-11-2004, 05:16 PM i looked at the quote and in no way at all is mega talkin shit to eminem, sayin hes racist or anything. hip hop was a culture started by a lot of people, but white people were not too involved. white people are invading the enemy palace according to mega, or hip hop, not necessarily eminem but the fans and the people behind the scenes. im not sayin he should be like this, but this is what hes saying. these people are claimin eminem is the best, he has brought in a whole new fan base that wasnt around before and hes claimed the greatest rapper by people who werent into hip hop before eminem. sorry for the long paragraph, what do you all think?
mega is the shit by the way

Like I've said in other Hip Hop Forum threads, this is my favorite poster in this forum. I totally agree with that. I really don't take a racist stand on anything, nor do I play the "black card". That ish was played out in the 80's.....

Don't be naive, it seems like a very straight forward analogy and I believe Madhatter is on point with his interpretation of it. An Eminem vs Cormega beef is unlikely to happen, it wouldn't be profitable for Slim. Disregard skin tone and compare bars to bars... Eminem would serve him.

RedScare 05-16-2004, 11:45 AM Its definately a reference to Eminem, but I dont see how its a diss at all. Its a fact - you could interpretit as diss, but I see it as a reference to the state of the industry. You know the state of the industries fucked up when one of the few real artist on top out of dozens of black men, is a white guy. Look at Cormega - hes a real artist, but he'll never get major label backing of any of his albums. The only way a black artist has a chance of making it, is if he sells his soul and starts making club songs. But Eminem can not only make a very personal album (or one thats ridiculously offending), but also get his album promoted the fuck out of it because hes white. Because hes white, hes allowed much more creative control. Not that, thats his fault. Its the mentality of white suits that give artists billions of dollars a year for the promotion of their albums. There not gonna throw money anywhere, there gonna invest in something that they think will sell. What does sell these days (or sometimes I hope what they think sells) in America, economically dominated by whites, is a dumb igonorant black dude that talks about guns and drug dealing, is acting a fool partying, doing drugs, and spending his entire McDonalds pay check on a bottle of Cristal, or if he makes a love song to girls (because girls love sensitive former drugdealing kingpins!!!). Although theres a similiar "fake" dimension in white mainstream rock and pop, there seems to be alot easier acceptance for record labels to promote "real" rock and pop artists like Dave Matthews and whoever those wierd white r&b girls singing poetic shit with videos on the beach with sunrises and shit are!!! For hiphop though, these suits are too scared to venture out into unknown territory, because these people were raised in a white-only culture 30 years ago. But when they see Eminem, they let him do whatever he wants - not simply because of the fact hes white. Its because they know that since hes white, no matter what he puts out it'll go platinum in two weeks. Thats just the way it is, but things are looking up when labels are now starting to have the confidence to promote different artists like Outkast, Kanye West, and theyre even now more and more promoting hardcore hiphop like 50 Cent and GUnit.
