ETHER LYRICS

Wassup niggas
Ey yo I know you ain't talkin about me dog, you....what
You been on my dick nigga
You love my style nigga

Analysis.... From day one Jigga was a fan of Nas, now he has turned on him and has become a hater.

Chorus
I.... Fuck what with your soul like Ether
Will....Teach you the king you know you
Not....God's son across the belly
Lose....I prove you lost already

Analysis.... Ether is a chemical compound that if breathed will put you to sleep. Nas is taking it to Jigga on a higher plane, what he's about to say will literally kill his soul. Then he cleverly uses Jiggas own arrogant words "I Will Not Lose," in a way we've never seen another rapper do.

Verse 1
Brace yourself for the main event
Ya'll impatiently waiting
It's like an AIDS test
What's the results
Not positive
Who's the best
Pac, Nas & Big
Ain't no best
East, West, North, South
Flossed out

Analysis.... His response is the most anticipated thing in hop-hop for a while, the result is gonna be bad for Jigga cause he started this, yet at the same time there NO best MC in hip-hop. Nas is not that arrogant to claim such a thing.

Gretings
I embrace ya'll
With na pom
Blows up
No guts left
Chest, face gone

Analysis.... He's embracing his enemies with a bomb that can leave them dead and unrecognizable.

How can Nas be garbage
Send me autos at your cobagge
Burner at the side of ur dome
Come out of my throne
I got this lock since 9-1
I am the truest
Name a rapper that
I ain't influence

Analysis.... He's answering Jiggas questions about his stature in the game, claims he already has the throne since 1991, and says he's had more influence on MC's than Jigga. This is true to many.

Gave ya'll chapters
But now I keep my eyes on the Judas
With hawian sophie fame
Keep my name in his music

Analysis.... He dropped knowledge in hs lyrics, but Jigga aka Judas (The apostle who betrayed Christ) never drops real knowlege. And Jiggas best known for his days with Jaz O and he's only using Nas as a way to keep himself famous.

Chorus 2x's

Ey yo pass me the weed
Throw my ashes out on these niggas man
Ey yo you faggots
Ya'll kneel and kiss the muthafuckin ring

Analysis.... Letting you know he's still a real weed smoking nigga!

Verse 2
I've been fucked over
Left for dead
Diss and forgotten
Luck ran out
They hoped that I'd be gone
Stiff and rotten
Ya'll just
Piss on me, shit on me
Spit on my grave

Analysis.... hes saying people have forgotten him and when asked about nas they just shitted on everything he has accomplished

Talk about me laugh behind my back
But in my face
Ya'll some
Well wishing, friendly acting
Envy hiding snakes
With yo hands out for my money
Man how much can I take

Analysis.... Dudes is sharks, smiling in your face all the time they wanna take your place, type niggas.

When these streets keep callin
Heard it when I was sleep
That this Gay-Z and Cockafella Records
Wanted beef

Analysis.... Clever wordplay confirming rumors of Jiggas gayness.

Started cockin out my weapon
Slowly loading up this ammo
To explode it on a camel
And his soliders
I can handle this for do-lo

Analysis.... Called Jigga out for his less that flattering looks, and said why can't Jigga go one on one, is he less than a man, an animal (camel) who can only fight with a crew.

And his manuscript
Just sound stupid
When KRS already made an album called Blueprint

Analysis.... KRS already dropped an album by the same name, why couldn't Jigga be original, cause he's in essence a biter!

First Biggie's your man
Then you got the nerve
To say that you better then Big
Dick suckin lips
Wont you let the late great veteran live

Analysis.... True indeed, Jigga said this on his last album. And was wrong for going there.

Chorus 2x's

God's son across the belly
I proved you lost already
The king is back
Where my crown at
Ill Will rest in peace
Let's do it niggas

Analysis.... Letting you know he's really about to bring it now.

Verse 3
Ya'll niggas deal with emotions like bitches
What's sad is I love you cause you're my brother
You traded your soul for riches
My child, I've watched you grow up to be famous
And know I smile like a proud dad
Watching his only son that made it

Analysis.... Told Jigga he's reacting like a female, but no matter how bad it get he still loves him as a human being. Jigga is soulless cause he'll do or say anything for money. Like a son whose fucked up inside, Nas still loves Jiggas like a father would.

You seem to be only concerned with dissing women
Were you abused as a child
Scared to smile
They called you ugly

Analysis.... The observation of a man on a higher level, no doubt this could be true, and I'm sure Jigga did get teased as a child for his less than flattering looks, thus developed an inferiority complex and that's why he directs hate at women as well as other MC's he knows are superior to him.

Well life is harsh hug me
Dont reject me
Or make records to disrespect me
Blatant or indirectly

Analysis.... Talking to him like a father to a son.

In '88 you was gettin chased to your building
Calling my crib
and I ain't even give you my numbers
All I did was give you a style for you to run with
Smilin in my face
Glad to break bread with the god

Analysis.... Fantasy and humorous... about getting chased but reality cause Jigga was happy when he met Nas for the first time.

Wearin jazz chains
No text, no cash, no cars
No jail bars, Jigga
No pies, No case
Just Hawaiian shirts
Hangin with little chase

Analysis.... Jiggas was was riding the next man to get on back in 1988, a true statement. And was not the flamboyant drug dealer cause he had no material items to prove it.

You're a fan, a phony
A fake, a pussy, a stan

Analysis.... Speaks for itself.

I'll still wip yo ass
You 36 in a karate class
You taebo ho
Tryna work it out
You tryna get bralick

Analysis.... Fantasy, psychological warfare and funny as hell, Jigga was hurt cause no way they want fans thinking he is 36, so he had to deny that on the radio quick.

Ask me if i'm tryna kick knowledge
Naw, I'm tryna kick the shit you need to learn though
That Ether
The shit that make you're soul burn slow

Analysis.... Answer Jiggas question, he's try trying to teach Jigga a lesson, before it's too late.

Is he Dame Ditty, Dame Daddy or Dame dummy
Oh I get it
You Biggie and he's Puffy

Analysis.... A dis of Dame Dash who is best known for dancing in videos like Puff.

Rocafeller died of AIDS
That was the end of his chapter
And that's the guy ya'll chose to name your company after
Put it together
I rock hoes
Ya'll rock fellas

Analysis.... Funny as hell, and continues to reinforce Jiggas gayness.

And now ya'll tryna take my spot fellas
Feel these hot rock fellas
Put you in a dry spot fellas
In a pine box
With nine shots
With my glock fellas

Analysis.... Keep talking shit and your career will be over shortly Jigga.

Foxy got you hot
Cause you keep your face in her puss
What you think you gettin girls now
Cause of your looks
Negro please

Analysis.... Reinforces jiggas well known association with Foxy and makes you realize, this dude has never been associated with hot chicks. Also fucks with Jiggas head based on childhood insecurities.

You no mustache havin
With whiskers like a rat
Compared to Beans you wack
And your man stabbed Un

Analysis.... He's less than a man, and not even the best rapper on his own label.

Made you take the blame
You ass, went from Jaz to
Hangin with Kane to Irv
To Big and
Eminem murdered you on your own shit

Analysis.... Show Jiggas true nature as a follow the leader type dude. And when he tried to go toe to toe with the best in the game, he got served. Plus make you wonder why a gangster is bring a knife to a gun fight, this ain't 1970.

You a dick ridin faggot
You love the attention
Queens niggas run you niggas
Ask Russell Simmons

Analysis.... Funny shit, Russell Simmons a Queens native is Jiggas boss.

ROC get gunned up and clapped quick
JJ Evans get gunned up and clapped quick
Ya whole damn record label
Gunned up and clapped quick

Analysis.... More funny shit.

Shawn Carter to Jay Z
Damn you on Jaz's dick
Ya little shawny
Gettin gunned up and clapped quick
How much of Biggie's rhymes
Goin come out yo fat lip

Analysis.... This is a fact, undisputed. Jigga does this way too often. Every album he steals 3 or 4 lines from Big, proves his inferiority complex is real.

Wanted to be on every last on of my classics
You pop shit, apologize
Nigga just ask Kiss

-----------------------------

this was laid out beuatifully, though a few lines were reaching it, but to me its seems to make sense, i dount nas actually meant for this to be this way. Can anyone clear up the whole redman/rockafella ish, cause that part got me confused

under ground emcee. named rock-a-fella.
who died of aids and
fucked wit def squad

ie red man's dare iz a darkside album on polygram

track #9 rockafella (rip)

Rockafella (R.I.P.)
carried on from previous track

(Pop in the disc, and who the hell is this?)

Sat down and opened my mind and said it's time
For me to design the right lines
Make you one of a kind boy rough and tough and all that stuff
Sure enough I'll make the brother's change their minds
Then you understand my only principle
No need to fuck with the born invincible
I'm rated X like a porno feature
Leaving MC's dazed, and catching anesthesias
Even females get rocked when they try to cock
Block the man from doing this hip-hop
Techniques unique and that's my word is bond
Rockafella's the name but the screaming I'll rock on

/ #10 rockafella
Verse One: Redman

Well it's that brother coming six billion feet from beneath
And you should be peep-in how I get smoked-out on the weekend
I swing it to my crew or down to my fans
Schoolin hell of stackas like final exams
Cause, it's the (UH!) Funkadelic, hit you with the irrelevant
elements, and it's coming through your block
Can't you smell it trick?
Wanna copy-cat my whole format
So you get funk tracks, punch lines and skull hats
HUHHHHHHH! Got a little Redman in town
Who's that effin clown soundin wack with the frown??
I don't know man, but you better wonder what I would do
While loud on this staff like birds one and two
My crew runs thicka than syrup from the burough
You get hurt up, word up, Jam-med like Pearl
Knock off from blood clot puff on the rough block
R.I.p. my man, Rockafella, it don't stop

A lot of the Ether lyrics are incorrect it seems. Anyway, yea, JZ never had a chance. Neither of the MC's are battle worthy anyway.

nas did beat jay on THIS particular one..but the Takeover was amazing because in one song jay decapitated 4 rappers singlehandledly

Yea, even though I'm a Jigga fan Nas killed him. But hes no great person at diss tracks though. Cassidy and Jadakiss would murk nas in a diss.

Funny...I bet if a nigga on RW had typed up the same text in Ether and through it up on Drop Rhymes as a diss to someone...they wouldn't get a good ratin' fa shyt....niggaz'll crit da hell out of it...

I'unno...jus my opinion..

Much as I am a fan of Nas, n Ether is one of if not my favourite song.. A lot of that was just opinionated bullshit. Shit man whoever wrote this didn't even get the lyrics on point.. Its 'semi-autos at your cartialage', n there were a few other mistakes...

A lot of it was right yea but you cant just turn round n say "Nas meant this" or "Jigga was real hurt by that" cos you dont know either of em

And you left out the part about Un, which was one of the strongest disses on the track

Ether is best left as it is, it dont need dissecting or analysing

To HOV I seriously doubt theres a rapper in the game that could produce a diss toward Nas that could compare to Ether, definitely not Cassidy or Jadakiss... If it was a str8 freestyle battle Cassidy would kill him, as would a lot of people, but if Nas sat down n took the time to write, he'd kill almost anybody... Cormega proved that can be out-dissed but Mega had the advantage of having known Nas most his life, n Nas didn't really come back hard like he did with Jigga, which IMO is the only black mark on Nas' career...

Murderous~Jay if Ether had been wrote by sum1 on here it would be entirely irrelevant, so your point was pretty dumb.. I know what you're sayin in that theres a lot more creative diss tracks but Ether was littered with personals, it really did expose Jay-Z whereas Takeover had very little in the way of interesting facts... The multiplication/division of Nas career/records was probably the best part

Nas barely came back at Mega at all, and I agree, it's probably because of his lack of dirt on Mega. Mega definitely had the leverage and he had the momentum to go at Nas hard. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, Jay-Z has to be the easiest MC to go at. It's easy to ridicule his antics and lyrically just about anyone can challenge him. What better way to gain some fame then to go at the overrated spotlight Jay-Z. Hypothetically speaking, if someone other than Jay-Z with say the talent of an Eminem, Biggie, Jada, had gone at Nas at this low point of his career, Nas' career would of probably been over.

I feel that the black mark on Nas' career isn't Mega at all, I mean, ask 80% of the Rap community and I bet most of them know who Mega is but never heard his diss verses to Nas. The black mark, IMO, is Nas' poor beat selection. To this day his beat selection suffers. I've heard the same exact verses from his albums on better matched beats and the lyrical ability/flow shine 10 x fold.

Peace

I agree his beat selection is weak, Stillmatic coulda been untouchable if the beat selection had been better, SD likewise... But the Mega beef is definitely his lowest point "In my eyes" cos to me it seems like he ducked out of it when Mega was ready to fight tooth n nail... Just makes him seem a coward..

I disagree that Nas' career woulda been over if it had been Em or Jada (def. not Jada) had dissed him.. Stillmatic was an album with a point to prove as a whole, not just cos of Camel Boys diss to him, Nas woulda came out flyin at whoever..

I'm not exactly sure about this. Had the diss not been so "heart" felt for Nas, I don't think he would of made this comeback. Not because the Jay-Z disses were good in terms of lyracism, cause they were utter trash, but just because of the sensative topics at hand. I just don't think he would of came out swinging at an MC who simply dissed say his career, even if that MC was more battle worthy. Just a matter of opinion.

Lol, everybody saying that nas Shit was "okay" and "average". Here's a couple reminders:

1.Ether was one of the most played diss tracks ever.
2.The mass doesnt understand complex.
3.So if you make a song that the mass is going to hear, you make it basically understandable for everyone.(That analysis sucked if you didnt get it the first time...Damn..)

Nas could of easily wrote more complicated lyrics about the situation..
Its the fact that it was going to be played on the radio...that made nas write it the way he did..which he did perfectly..because he achieved his purpose..
