I've spoken to so many huge fans of Illmatic, and theres so many varied opinions on what the best song on the album is. Whats your favourite track and why?

Lyrics are hot. Flow is sick. Beat is dope.

I keep switching between favourite tracks. First it was NY State Of Mind, then it was One Love. Now its changed to Represent, dont know why. I guess its just the mark of an outstanding album.

this is one of the best lyrics in hip hop history, the beat is produced by pete rock, one of the greatest producers in hip hop history, and its a quote from scarface, one of the most influential movies in hip hop history. and its dope.

well when i first heard it i loved "It aint hard to tell" cuz the lyrics and the beat are crazy, but then i started listenin to represent and that shit is just crazy, best track ever made in my opinion

The whole ablum is mad hot!! How could I choose one song? From New York State of Mind to It Aint Hard To Tell. I love all of them. But if I must, it would probably be One Love

I have no idea why some people think Nas is whack. Nas is the best artist out there and he's out lasted Tupac and Jay-Z and he's still going strong. For Illmatic, I lvoed the album but I think he still topped it with Stillmatic and God's Son.

Illmatic was a tight ass album no doubt, but I think Stillmatic and God's Son topped it.

Same here for Illmatic. "It Ain't Hard To Tell" hit new things in the Hip Hop world. Another tight ass album was The Lost Tapes with "My Way", "Purple", and "Nothing Lasts Forever".

A toss up between Life's A Bitch, Represent and One Time For Your Mind.

They all hot, but my favourite at the moment is One Love.

Definetly the World is Yours, he killed that track. But New York State of Mind is a very close second.

Represent..............thats my annual summer anthem no matter what my activity. Play that on the block, the hood go wild. Timeless.......that beat is the only one thats not really defined by a certain era/time period on that album. It doesnt sound 94ish and it doesnt sound like any shit you got today. Its just on its own level and definition.

The entire CD is pure hip hop at it's best. NaS is definitely a contender for GOAT. It's still very arguable though... Nastradomas and Street Deciple were... okay at best. Disappointing. But yeah, Illmatic is still classic.

World is yours, and get the special edition cd with the World is Yours remix, its got this nice piano based beat with a synth bounce.
