mos def, ghostface and the roots aren't under-rated they're respected (unless you're talkin' in terms of album sales). but i agree with ya that kweli and gza require more respect. styles p isn't that good (a gangsta and a gentlemen is filled with album fillin' tracks, only a couple decent drops, AZ is awfull he got dropped from his label for releasing about 3 shite albums (although he has massive portential like on life's a bitch and the flyest).
who's under-reated are jurassic 5, scarface, (coz he's better than jay-z, eminem, 50cent & xzibit), but doesn't get video/radio airplay, also brotha lynch hung is sharp, and brand nubian deserve more props

Sheek is EXTREMELY underrated. ANybody hear that D-Block 9 minute freestyle? I'm sorry but he spit better than Jada, Styles, and Jae Hood, and whoeer that was that jumped on at the end. Also, Jay-Z is maaad underrated. That Blueprint 2 was amn sure worth 5 mics in the source, but they decided to ride Nas' dick for a change. Every rhyme in there was fire. Xzibit - everyone blew off his new album Man vs Machine. Sure its not as great as his old shit, but its still dope as fuck!! And everyones was hatin on that one track Heart Of Men which in my opinion isnt a bad track at all - I like that song!

Eh...I hate compiling these lists sometimes...you can never make a real definite final decision on a list...but here goes (in no particular order)
Top 5 Most Underrated Rappers (right now)
1. MF Doom a.k.a. Victor Vaughn a.k.a. King Geedorah (so many aliases, but he's so good...yet underappreciated)
2. Andre 3000 (has everyone forgotten what a superb emcee he can be? Yeah, he sings too...so what? He shouldn't be chastised for being different)
3. MC Paul Barman (people shit on him 'cause he's a smart white Jew...that's what makes him so unique...the wordplay's absurd)
4. Andy and Dizzy from Ugly Duckling (yeah, they got a cult following, but they should be respected a little more)
5. Sabac Red of Non Phixion (he gets the least recognition of the 3 members, yet he seems to be the most socially conscious and overall best of the group...in my opinion...personally, I can't wait to get his solo release)

Yeah...that looks pretty good to me. Other than that, most other emcees are overrated, just suck, or are (finally) getting the respect they deserve (i.e. the Def Jux and Rhymesayers collectives). But my opinion will probably change within the next hour...alrighty...peace for now.

One of the most underrated emcees is Joe Budden, dam that nigga is dope. Listen to his album, the track "Walk With Me" was ill as fuck.
