I think sex is the ultimate way to express your love to another person. It's like thanking them for all the emotional pleasure they've given you, so in return you make them physically feel good. If the female it giving it away in the beginning of the relationship, then this is what the relationship is now based on. Again, sex is the ultimate reward for both parties. If you have sex and one party takes it away, then what's left? You didn't give anytime before the sex to build a foundation, so there isn't anything to base your relationship on.

A relationship without sex doesn't make sense...

Take another perspective. What if you started going out with this guy, really liked him, fucked him once, but shortly afterwards, he got bluntly castrated in a mishap with a shotgun? You'd probably break up. No relationship can survive over any length of time without sex, except for a couple of odd cases.

To you it may seem like withdrawing something that's yours to give, but in my opinion, it's like putting a relationship on hold: It's temporary, but annoying as fuck. Or an absence of fuck.

The female I would be dealing with will obviously have a good reason for it and who am I to say she shouldn't feel the way she does.
