i got in2 uk hip hop way back, but its got boring, they try and recreate a mid 90's american sound, yet don't have the energy of wu tang or gang starr, and lack the originality of that time. uk is home to some of the heaviest rhymers about at the moment (kyza, universal soldiers, jehst, doc brown etc) and lewis parker is one of the best producers i've ever heard, but except for a few cats, no one is pushing it forward. everyone chats the same shit, and its boring. uk hip hop will never make it in the states till they see that they have to stop trying to emulate and OLD sound. few uk producers try to do anything original, the majority just emulate what was happening in america 10 years ago.

I liked the old producing, so I like English Hip Hop producing, proabably the main reason I like it at all.

Actually british hip hop dates back to 1983, with a crew called Newtrament, they did a track called 'London bridge burning down' or someting, and was released by jive records. it was like a british version of the message, except alot rawer, with socially concious rhymes and a mad elctro beat. british hip hop kept pushing forward, city limits and the mutant rockers, the 3 wize men and hijack all made some pretty dope records, and hijack had a record deal with ice t, but it fell through cos their sound was considered to different to sell in the states. you should learn about a subject before you make such definitive statements about it, cos theirs always someone who knows more about something than you, bitch.

what you said was that british hip hop was dead, and had never existed, which is clearly untrue, so i corrected you. buy uk hip hop connection, i got it this morning, and its dedicated to uk hip hop, with rodney p, klashnekoff and skinnyman, and a dope free cd. its also got top 100 uk hip hop singles of all time, and i think newtrament is somewhere in there.
