ClairVoyance 08-24-2004, 03:57 PM I liked the old producing, so I like English Hip Hop producing, proabably the main reason I like it at all. grooveriders 08-24-2004, 04:17 PM youre all forgeting the infamous slick rick YeshuaBenJoseph 08-24-2004, 05:27 PM ^True. nah man, u didn't listen to what i was saying, uk hip hop doesn't have the energy or the freshness of rza or premier, yet constantly try to emulate their sound. kachi esq 08-24-2004, 05:31 PM British M.C.s are none because the vast majority have the lyical skills but lack the main ingreidient unique CREATIVITY!!! Kachi Esq U.D.D. 08-24-2004, 08:40 PM download "Mystro - Yeah". Thats all you need to hear. itll restore your faith in british hip-hop. LastEmperor 08-24-2004, 09:20 PM UK Rap is dead. And Brit Hop. Whatever you want to call it, whatever trite catchphrase you make up. And that's because it never even existed. The history of black music - whether you want to call it blues or jazz or soul or hip hop - is a history of dislocated, alienated people, ripped away from their roots and forced to adjust with rapidity to crippling social and economic circumstances. What it isn't is a history of belonging and hoisting the Union flag. It's a history of survival and the search for identity. You fools shud stop takin shots at uk based acts and just enjoy hip hop in itself...... If y'all lookin for a good uk emcee check roots manuva.... And Brit Hop. Whatever you want to call it, whatever trite catchphrase you make up. And that's because it never even existed." Actually british hip hop dates back to 1983, with a crew called Newtrament, they did a track called 'London bridge burning down' or someting, and was released by jive records. it was like a british version of the message, except alot rawer, with socially concious rhymes and a mad elctro beat. british hip hop kept pushing forward, city limits and the mutant rockers, the 3 wize men and hijack all made some pretty dope records, and hijack had a record deal with ice t, but it fell through cos their sound was considered to different to sell in the states. you should learn about a subject before you make such definitive statements about it, cos theirs always someone who knows more about something than you, bitch. if you wanna check out some dope uk hip hop download braintax - the grip universal soldiers - heavyweight product doc brown - in my life wordsmith - grand deception LastEmperor 08-25-2004, 08:24 PM u read the whole post fool? stop tryin 2 be a smart arse LastEmperor 08-25-2004, 08:25 PM Mark B + Blade <<< another gud uk act YeshuaBenJoseph 08-26-2004, 11:37 AM what you said was that british hip hop was dead, and had never existed, which is clearly untrue, so i corrected you. buy uk hip hop connection, i got it this morning, and its dedicated to uk hip hop, with rodney p, klashnekoff and skinnyman, and a dope free cd. its also got top 100 uk hip hop singles of all time, and i think newtrament is somewhere in there. LastEmperor 08-26-2004, 12:36 PM aiight man i feel what i ur sayin, when i said uk hip hop was dead it was just a turn of phrase i didnt mean people 2 read much into it. Al look into that Uk Hip Hop Connection, there is alot of dope acts comin out of the uk. Roots Manuva, braintax, skinnyman, black twang, jiehst, klashnekoff,Gamma 2 name few... YeshuaBenJoseph 08-26-2004, 04:09 PM true, but i feel a little underwhelmed by the originality in the lyrical content, all it seems to be is 'grimey' street life/ social commentary, or punchline nonsense. its either depressing or taking the piss, which is why i feel braintax so much, cos he is different, and doesn't give a fuck. FLEMBAG 09-06-2004, 12:15 AM i dont think americans understand when they say oh british hip hop is crap i heard the streets ! the streets is fk all to do with british hip hop! hes probably the equivalent of summin like the will smith 2 yall, just like most brits mainly hear american "pop" hip hop u americans will only ever hear "pop" britsh hip hop...granted our pop hip hop is crapper than yours but britain has some gr8 underground stuff so b4 u say oh its crap ...u aint even heard half of it FLEMBAG 09-06-2004, 12:21 AM uk hip hop is far from dead its just you dont see british rappers on candy bars and soda cans even america dont hear the best rappers in america u hear whatever the radio stations play u, and how do they decide whats played ??
