i just joined so i can tell i'm a couple years late on this post...but if anyone does get back to it i just gotta say that i would question whether Jay-Z was close to the greatest at one time even, but I think now it's pretty obvious after the "retirement" and his years of crap since the beginning of his career have shown people that he's nowhere close to the top. Yeah Nas put out one song and I mean honestly that doesn't mean everything, but there are tons of better artists than Jay-Z ever was including Nas. Just listening to their music alone should make it obvious. But if not De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Public Enemy are all better groups with better MCs in them and even soloists such as Tupac, B.I.G., Common, or Zion from Zion I are better Hip Hop Artists
