View Full Version : Uk Hip Hop CRUGER 01-02-2005, 07:25 PM http://www.grhyme.co.uders some good uk hip hop songs and other songs u can hear on dis website, check it out Multiplaxed, 01-02-2005, 07:34 PM UK Hip-Hop is doing alright actually.. people are dissing it but the only reason they are dissing it is because of people like Dizzee Rascal and So Solid Crew who can't even be countead hip-hop.. more like Garage.. we got some good acts like Jehst .. Celt Islam etc etc.. Kronologik 01-02-2005, 07:38 PM Yungun is very good, as is Klashnekoff. Not heard many others, but them two are nice. Tw!stEd 01-02-2005, 07:43 PM Don't like Klashnekoff. Jesht is one of my fav emcee's. Phi Life Cypher can also do some real deep shit. FLEMBAG 01-02-2005, 11:54 PM ne1 else heard the uk emcee on nas album ... cant b arsed findin the box 2 tell ya the name but he was terrible !!!! blak twang kik off thats pretty good YeshuaBenJoseph 01-03-2005, 07:53 AM garage is hip hop, just an evolution, like crunk. make no mistakes. but yeah uk hip hop is alright, boring production, familiar rhyme schemes and derivative lyrical content, but their are a few chaps killing it. braintax has always been dope, since 94 or some shit. jehst is dope, broke'n'english & foreign beggarz are ill, yungun is ok as is klashnekoff, kyza, lowkey, doc brown etc but there are very few acts who are espescially dope, most bore me. YeshuaBenJoseph 01-03-2005, 07:55 AM completely forgot sway dasafo. check him out, he's immense CRUGER 01-03-2005, 08:18 AM garage aint hiphop der compleatly different, garage mcs r influenced by rappers but garage is very different 2 hiphop, lowkeys my fav, forien beggaz haft to b da best uk group but task force r ill aswell i herd dat guy on nas's album, he's called rising son, he's aiight but not showin uks talent, especially scince lowkey and yungun joined dat compition, lowkey shudda won it, if u listoned 2 all da demos dey sent 4 da compition, his woz da best Tw!stEd 01-03-2005, 10:25 AM garage is hip hop, just an evolution Garage came out of Drum n Bass...so is barely linked with hip hop any more. Charise 01-03-2005, 01:39 PM UK hip hop is improving, who-ever says that Dizzee Rascal is wack needs there ears tested. :) YeshuaBenJoseph 01-03-2005, 01:49 PM word dizzy rascals production is dope, much more interesting than the majority of the u.k scene. drum'n'bass and jungle are so closely linked to hip hop its ridiculous, from production techniques to the people who make it. garage emcees spit rhymes like rappers, its just a shit form of hip hop, like crunk. CRUGER 01-03-2005, 02:09 PM no, i compleatly disagree, a garage mc cant b a good rapper and a rapper can't b a good garage mc, dey r compleatly different, da only thing dats simular is da urban culture there from .Inphinite. 01-03-2005, 03:14 PM UK hip hop is improving, who-ever says that Dizzee Rascal is wack needs there ears tested. :) ^Naw.. Dizee is Wack.. Jhest, Phi Life, Klash, etc are quite good... They've got nice tracks.. Dizee is just.. Blah CRUGER 01-03-2005, 03:18 PM dats coz he aint a rapper he's a garage mc and a very good garage mc, da way u make up hip hop rhymes is different 2 da way u make up garage rhymes, with garage it doesent even haft 2 rhyme, its all about exiting da crowd but rap is all abour rhymes, metophores, similys ect. hegarty1987 01-03-2005, 03:29 PM completely forgot sway dasafo. check him out, he's immense The guy went to my school Mankunean 02-02-2005, 10:47 PM Got a few things to say so just gnna run with it... I can see what people are saying with the whole Rap is like Garage thing but beleive... It's not. Most Garage Mc's are on some 'one time bubble n flow' shit.. That dont run! Clocked someone say that raps all bout met's, similies & punches... Your right, but.... None of that means dick if you got no heart. Yeah, Dizzee's got talent, but for a man who claims he aint hip-hop, Whats he doing acting all girl-like with Wiley on a Westwood show? As for rap, The UK's got mad flavour... Jhest, Phi Life, Shystie (again can u call her rap?), Taskforce, Klash, Skinnyman.... but even though Jhest n co. aint fully 'MADE IT' yet their goin on like they have, Jhest is highly skilled yeah, But wheres his heart? Certainly aint showing through making tracks with Yorkshire schoolboys like Braintax. All them people screaming keep it real need to keep themselves real. I'm a rapper from Manchester, and we aint got a problem with man coming up, Its the way they doin it.... Oh and anyone got The World According To RZA Album, Check it out, RZA, Blade, Skinnyman & Mr. Tibs on track 3, Its poor until RZA's verse... Was ashamed to call them UK MC's... As for crowds, I was at the Apollo in Manc for the Mobb Deep show on tuesday and I aint never heard a rapper blatantly tell a crowd they dicks and they the worst crowd they had, Its Mobb Deep for fuck sake, 90% of people there probably didnt know who they were, It was embarassing hearing the Shook One's go silent when the crowd dont know the fucking chorus, And not one person in there owned the HNIC album, Cos when they came out like ''WHo got the HNIC joint?'' Room froze.... Really, Shook Ones... One of thier support acts that night gotta get a mention, Broken English.... 2 Mancunian rappers, They did thier thing and they deserve mad props (like the few men who actually repped at the Apollo).. Been tryna find more on Broken English so if ya know any links, Lemme know.... Yeah and its been said before I talk to much, But what ryhmer dont ;) jeffari 02-03-2005, 05:44 AM I use limewire and it's pretty good at finding uk hip hop. got quite a bit of broke n english from there. went to see mobb deep not so long ago in Forum, London but it was a little different. Everyone was pretty much feeling mobb deep with shook ones, survival of the fittest ect but it was the uk artists that never got no love from the crowd. uk artists like low key, mic assasain and a like who i think sound heavy on their tracks were battling and the crowd was just booing. You ever heard of 21 Eyes Pedigree Chumps Karlos the Jackal PFD or Northern Monkeys? Im meant to be going a gig in Liverpool this month with Rza Gza n Inspectah deck with Kano the Antiheroes n a lad I know supportin, I'll be goin fuckin apeshit man... Mankunean 02-03-2005, 07:37 AM apollo was full of nobs jeff FNon- Broken English wre the rappers, GO rep yourself in scouseville HoBGoBLiN 02-03-2005, 08:15 AM apollo was full of nobs jeff FNon- Broken English wre the rappers, GO rep yourself in scouseville Fucken damn right, cant believe the crowd didnt show love to Mobb. Whats it all about YeshuaBenJoseph 02-03-2005, 12:13 PM probably because they're wack these days. whats wrong with uk hip hop? we're stuck in new york circa 1994. its not a bout heart, its about originality. granted lewis parker and braintax have original beats but 90% of acts sound like second rate preemo shit. don't get me wrong gang starr, tribe, common sense, souls of mischief, wu tang, o.c, lord finesse, i love that era, it was the golden age, but uk hip hop needs to find a sound that isn't a poor replica of premier or pete rock. success doesn't really matter, what matters is how dope it is, which is why man need to find their own sound. in the u.s the only contempary hip hop i actually think is dope is that mechanical futuristic def jux shit, cannibal ox etc because they are fresh, original, but at the same time retain the principles. for a good scene we need to escape the grasp of the u.s, look at france, they have a much healthier scene than us because they make their own sound. Mankunean 02-03-2005, 03:46 PM you had a few good points but not sure what Uk rap youve been listening to, Who sounds like gangstarr? wu? common? To me (and this is my opinion) Uk rap has its 'own sound' its just that most of the sounds are generic london mc's whailing at a high pitch.... Your right about originality, But fuck, it is about heart... you put your heart, mind & soul into something if it means that much, and for man making music, it should mean that much.... ''success doesn't really matter, what matters is how dope it is'' Thats your best point.... Fuck yeah.... Reminds me of one guy, Doesnt know bout mets, similies, punches, bars, timing, writing, and refuses to listen to the technical sides of rap, yet he can pic up a mic and freestyle for hours... He's dope as fuck but never gonna make it through lack of devotion.... like you said... ''success doesn't really matter'' Lots of different factors contribute to the style of a rapper, Suppose thats why man got nuff different styles... saying uk emcee's sound the same as mid 90's US mc's is just blatantly not true... maybe man have been influenced by certain major rappers but I cant say Ive heard any 'copycat styles' Much respect to Uk man ;) |
