First off, Jay-Z sold Roc-a to Def Jam and then was named President and CEO of Def Jam Records. He is in charge of Def Jam, but reports to LA Reid in that respect. Also, part of the deal was he remains in total control of Roc-a and reports to no one concerning Roc-a-Fella.

Furthermore, Jay just signed a 1 album deal with Aftermath as S. Carter. Of course, Dre will be producing that shit.

I think he should of retired because he was starting to get repetitive and he even said it himself on the song "What More Can I Say". He's basically saying what more can I say or do to show you that I am one the greatest rappers of all time. He's made plenty of money and had plenty of albums so yes I think it was his time to go.
