i bought a new, old truck/---85 chevy s10--"The two tone chevy"-and i my truck bed is crazy ugly-- its rusty and denty--but the rest of the truck is good and i have big plans for it-- i just cant start until i fix the bed or get a new one
i've always wanted a lowrider--because here in the burgh(pittsburgh) we dont have any. but i cant find any impalas,
so i decided to do somethin different
people are not going 2 understand me at stop signs and red lights

any help?

This will depend on the condition of the bed.

1.Are there rust holes or just surface rust?

If the there are rust holes. I would use either fiber glass or carbon fiber to repair. Both are lightwieght and will stand up better then bondo.
The best repair is scrap sand and have someone cut and weld metal back in.

2. Where are the dents?

If the dents are in the floor of the bed then just give up on this bed and find a used replacment in good shape. I belive a couple california companys make complete fiberglass beds for the s10's and s15's.

3. How low is this truck going to be? If your going real low you might be looking into cutting a bed up for the lowest spindle drops.
So you might want a bed on the side in good shape. This way you can cut up the shitty bed as a template.

Later on when im in the mood i will post a couple links for some how to tips....

there are minor rust wholes in the bed by the tailgate-about 3, a few centimeters in length-- there are alot of little scrapes and bruises on the outside of the bed--its gray primer in color--the previous owner tried to do fiberglass repairs along the bottom of the bed--it looks a hot mess and its practically falling apart
but for the most part the bed has surface rust---there is 1 big dent on the right side by the tail light

i dont want any fiber glass on my "HEAVY CHEVY"
on saturday i was rear-ended--by either a honda accord or a dodge neon (i couldnt tell) the whole front end of the car was smashed in---front bumper, both fenders, headlights, hood, radiator, and i had a pool of radiator fluid in the bed---
but thank to my rear bumper i had no damage, not even a scratch-- i had a little headache but thats all

If you have a place to keep it, i would recomend hitting up a junk yard for a bed.
Even if its not perfect its always alot less of a pain to recondition a bed off the truck.

Then again if your looking for the easy way out, a dent puller and bondo is a good way to spend a weekend.

There is a great 350 tpi conversion for the S10. You can get a goodwrench Smal block V8 that puts out 280 hp with a 8:5:1 compression. Witch means its begging for a twin turbo or supercharger. The motor is $1,300 brand new 2,200 with all the intake and cam goodies. This could be a 400 hp motor for $3000.
400hp in a S10 = some real fucking fun... Plus with the low compression and a turbo this would be a real economical motor to...
