I've been reading some posts that people have put in various threads about Maturity and what makes a person Mature or Immature. Some people believe that different thinks you do in your life determine your maturity level.
I.e. having sex, living on your own, having a job, being "independent" and the list goes on.
My questions to you all are...
In YOUR opinion what is the definition of the word "Mature" and or "Maturity"?
In YOUR opinion are Maturity and Mature the same or different things? Explain.
How do you determine a Mature person from an Immature person?
Do YOU believe that you’re a Mature Person? Please give reasons on why you believe so.
If you have any other questions please feel free to add on to the ones that I have already provided.
Thanks,
*Dani*

In YOUR opinion what is the definition of the word "Mature" and or "Maturity"?
Maturity encompasses a plethora of things. Life experiences, Mental readiness, Emotional development, etc,. One basic way to look at it would be to consider the level of naivety in comparison to the level of sophistication in any respects..
In YOUR opinion are Maturity and Mature the same or different things? Explain.
Not necessarily. They can be synonymously used, but it doesn't mean that they are to be used as such in every instance. Someone can be mature in a situation but still be laccing maturity in another..
How do you determine a Mature person from an Immature person?
That question is relative and/or subjective. For someone who is considered 'mature' by the masses, their determination of maturity will be based on a totally different scale than someone of more 'childish' mannerisms..
Do YOU believe that you’re a Mature Person? Please give reasons on why you believe so.
Definitely. Emotionally, I am a sound person. I've been thru a great deal of situations and have come thru them with the outlook of an 'elevated' person - because that's all maturity is..the elevation from some basic location (figuratively speaking). My mindset can vary, I'm human just like anyone else but for the most part I'm a reasonably mature person..

How do you determine a Mature person from an Immature person?
By everything except what they tell you when you first meet them.
Do YOU believe that you’re a Mature Person? Please give reasons on why you believe so.
I have no choice. I live in an apartment I'm on my own I drive and I run a business, if I'm not mature...how can I go through life successfully with all these responsibilities.
But I think only a handful of people on this site are mature. Fuck what they say behind a screen, but I actually know some of these people personally.

In YOUR opinion what is the definition of the word "Mature" and or "Maturity"?
Maturity is ones ability to function as an independant well adjusted adult. This means that they are able to take care of the things that they must do, and handle the common hardships that life throws at them. Mature person acts on the following:
1) Emotions: Before acting on them, they take into account all possible consequences.
2) Actions: They take responsibility for their own actions and accept all consequences. They never redirect blame to others, or any in anyway deny it as the resulf of their own action.
3) Needs: When they need to do things, they take care of it. They are aware of their surroundings everything that they must do to maintain the life that they live.
4) Socialization: They are always aware of the people around them, and they always take into account how they affect lives other than their own.
5) Self-awarness: They know what they do, and they know what the results of their behavior will be.
In YOUR opinion are Maturity and Mature the same or different things? Explain.
No, mature is an adjective, maturity is a noun.
How do you determine a Mature person from an Immature person?
An immature person lacks the qualities that I described maturity with. If I can discern that someone's actions are based on hasty descisions, not thinking things through, or ignoring the things that they must do, then I will assume that they are immature. Before such a conclusion, I either follow the pattern of multiple incidents, or I directly confront the person. However, being mature, I always accept the possibility that I may be wrong.
Do YOU believe that you’re a Mature Person? Please give reasons on why you believe so.
Yes. Although I still have plenty room for improvement, I do take care of my responsibilities, and I never act without thinking things through fully. I do my best to consider the feelings of others and how I affect the people around me.
