I read a interview where Jay Z said he was retiring from rap after his next album "the black album". As for the reason why he is retiring, this is what I think the reason is. He can't beat Nas.... He probably wants to retire because he doesn't want to leave as the one that was always murdered by Nas. A last album, delivers a major blow to Nas, and then leaves.... People will remember it if he can do better than what Nas did in "Ether".....

I agree that Ether was successful but as far as losing, I don't think so. It was close but Blueprint 2 outsold God Son, Jay Z videos (even though they are kinda soft) are always more voted than Nas', even when Nas' video is newer. Plus, Nas always tryin' to put water on the fire about they beef. He was on BET tryin' to dismiss the subject about it and he was'nt so mad on "The Last Real Nigga Alive" so he obviously want the beef to end. In reality I think they both kinda scared of each other.
