Audi
Porsche

IMO Audi has some of the best executed styling. They actually have a consistent styling direction and it works. Although some of their prototypes have been a bit too far out their, they understand proportion and balance more than any other auto maker. The 98 Audia A8 (and S8) were a prime example of those skills. Unfortunately most Americans want their $80K to scream out that it's an $80K so BMW and Mercedes beat them. Although the new S8 fixes this a bit though loses some of the beauty of the 98 model. Anyway, every other detail on the interior of Audi's are also a step ahead of Mercedes and BMW in the sense consitency and balance. Furthermore they understand how to make the features in a car work well with drivers. Many have complained about BMW's iDrive, but Audi's MMI has had great reviews in it's ease of use (Mercedes has nothing to compete with either). Even that 98 A8 lead the way in comfort features and ease of use. Also (although I hate SUV's) they have a plan for a beautiful SUV called the Q7. It will be a restyled VW Touareg minus unnessary off road parts (skid plates, locking diffs) shaving off 388 pounds. The VW was amazing with many awards, and this is sure to be a good vehicle too.

As for Porsche, the 911's have been among the best handling cars in the world with legendary braking. Plus the steering precision (which currently isn't measured in tests) is among the best out there. It also turns out that the new Boxster handles as well as the $440,000 Carrera GT. Which handles like a race car. They did make the huge ugly Cayanne SUV (also based on the VW Touareg), but other than that Porsche make amazing cars. Also the styling on the new 911 and Boxster has improved. They brought back the wheel arches in older Porsches which the 996 (the previous model 911) lost, and round headlights. The new 480hp 911 Turbo will be out soon.

They both make beautiful, fast, good handling cars, with awesome all wheel drive traction. (AWD makes the most sense in a high powered car IMO) Plus, unlike Mercedes they don't dump huge overpowered turbo V12's and V8's that dominate the car more any other feature. Audi's and Porshes are more than just engines on wheels. Also, Audi's aren't over teched like BMW's and Benzes both are. Audi technology is kept tucked away but with easy access. It's not a bunch of blinking lights and screens that require bible sized manuals.

They should hire me.

I drive a subaru and thats a thorough company. Its realistict to own unlike what Orc noted, and most models have the patended porsche cylinders implemented into the engines.

Audis are also mad proper.

but wtf, be I 19 or 40........I aint dropping more then 10 Gs on a car ever unless I got mad loot to throw away. Ima straight up cop an import for like 6-7 G's, then put in a couple grand to make it nice and Im set. I cant understand the mentality of people buying 30 thousand dollar cars and then struggling to pay it off.

motherfucka, I drive around in a black subaru
but I think they call it a drive by when we shoot at you

Well yea, I'd buy what I can afford (which is nothing right now, college is expensive :( ). But, I wouldn't go for anything that's just going to break down. What decent car can you get for under $10k that's not going to fall apart on you and cost more in repair? I probably won't even look at a new car until all of my college loans are paid off. New cars depreciate, in most cases they are bad investments. I still dream of Audi's and Porsche's though. At some point I must have an S8, and a 911 Turbo S. But, I also expect to own my own successful software company aswell and I will bleed to achieve that goal.

Heavy Chevy's 4 life
i love the ol' school chevy's the 60's and 70's when american muscle was metal-- i hate that fiber glass shit-
you can get a ol chevy and drive thru a burning building and olny have to worry about paint--
not to mention the engines used back in the good ol' days-- they shook the streets, i cant stand it when i see a little orange and maroon neon with a wing bigger than the trunk and those mufflers that sound like a bike with a "huggy" carton on the back tire

all heavy chevys rule but...
my favorite car happens to be a 1979 pontiac trans am--

BMW's are nice, the only one I don't like is the 7 series. Too much tech not enough sport. Not that I don't appreciate the technology, I just whish they did a better job of making it more seemless and natural. They all look good though.

^^^ I seriously doubt that you went 212 mph in either of those Ferrari's... seeing as the top speed for an F50 is 202mhp, and the top speed for the Ferrari 456 is 185mph...

My dad used to be a Chauffeur for a Millionaire... and he and his sons had cars such as, the Ferrari f355, Aston Martin DB7, Porsche 911, Mercedes s500.... untill he died... :(

360? They have the F430 now. They made it way faster (beat's the Lambo Gallardo even with less hosepower) and did minor updates to the apperance. I like the new look, it's a bit sharper and less chunky. You're right about that top speed though, and you won't get that fast on anything but a test track with good conditions. The F50 has considerable drag due to it's wing and ground effects.

Dirty Frank
03-06-2005, 10:50 PM
oh yeah I forgot about the new 430... it does look alot like the 360 modena, but a bit nicer... and yeah it's faster then the Gallardo...

the 430 has 483 bhp (where the 360 has 400)...

and yes...It's a tad bit faster then the Gallardo (which has 500bhp) and the 430 does 196mph... and it's for having less bhp it does well in quickness as it has the same as the Gallardo...

Listen.
One of my jobs is that I work for a luxury car showroom.
not only do I deliver these cars around the country, but I get to take the pictures so I can then come home and upload them to the site.

T1Oracle : I just read your intro to this thread, You are completely correct, I drive these babies and my twinbrother owns an Audi TT, Ive driven everything from numerous Porsches - from the boxter 550 spyder special edition - to the Carrera's & the turbo 911s, they are so damn fast its unreal - like drivinga rocket, it takes me hours to calm down after driving them!. The Audi TT is the best all rounded driving experience Ive had in any car, and its that after I explained that to my brother that convinced him to buy 1...

If its quality vehicles your after, then its German made ie:Porsche, Merc's, Audi's, BMW's....nnothing more needs to be said exept to show u a pic or 2:

look at the price tag & remember that this is second hand and that £1 = $2.

Below Ive put some more pics from my work place, and a brief explination of my "FUN" with them lol.

It took me months to get used to driving these babies!...I only popped one tyre!.
-------------------------------------------------

My brother owned one of these (below) in black. They are certainly the best "all rounded" driving experience out there from : handling, acceleration, to braking and just sheer drivability...beautiful, one draw back - watch your head as you get in!, lol, I always banged my head getting into these, and it was in this very "Audi TT 1.8T quattro coupe", that I first ever reached 130 miles an hour...!, i had to ...to keep up with my boss across country!, if I lost sight of him up ahead I would have been completely lost!.
AudiTT 1.8T quattro coupe = around £29,000, good price for one of the best driving experiences around!...

^^^^^^^^The TVR Tuscan (hard top convertible) - This was by far the strangest car we had in & although I didnt like the look of it much - I had one of the best most eye opening days of my life driving this car!, it has a top speed of 200MPH - it has no door handles, and when I got in (there's a small button under the wing mirrors) I couldnt figure out how to get out again!....completely hand made interior, all gold/bronze buttons with no markings on, and it took me and a colluege half an hour to find the petrol cap!(located in the boot/trunk)...we drove it across country on a beautiful sunny day to swap it with another car dealer for a cheque for £7,000 + 2x cars - a bmw alpina b10 and a s-type jaguar....Cost: £42,000 brand new here, we tried selling it for £38,000 it only had 4000 miles on the clock, no one wanted it. Typically - the day after we swapped it a man walks in asking about the TVR tuscan he was so interested in

Quite cheap compared to most of the cars there @ £27,000brand new.

It is a strange looking car huh, the bonnet is half bolted down, and where u can see the split half way up, there's 2 gaps there big enough to fit a cat!..lol, the weird thing is, that when we took it to be sold it was a really hot day, So obviously we put the air conditioning on and opened the windows.
But because the engine gets so hot and with those gaps in the bonnet for air cooling, it blasts the engines hot air out which in turn was shooting up and burning my arm as I hung it out the window!, - it was cooler to have the windows wound up rather than down due to all that hot air rushing out!...

It was quite funny too, that every single button & knob inside inside that car has no markings on it what so ever to tell you what they are or do - they're all plain bronze.
The dash display started flashing "14K" so I was reading through the car manual hand book to try to find out where the hazard lights button was!, I went to press a button by the sterio and my friend"mark" who was driving said "No!, dont press that!, that button opens the doors!"...it turned out that the "14k" flashing was simply telling us the revs!....lol, damn it was a weird car!, you'd need to spend weeks trying to get to grips with it...

TVR's are awesome and I envy your boss. Is it the lighting that's making the TVR look like it has glitter on it? Every other pic I've seen of it, it had perlescent paint that shifts in color at different angles. I think that thing looks best in darker colors, like the one they had in Swordfish. Back to the Porshe though, if you look closer to the 966 and the new one you'll see that the wheel arches are more flared out on the new one. The 966 was so focused on aerodynamics that they forgot about the wheel arches, the new one is more aerodynamic and it still has wheel arches. The new one also has a wider track (the left and right tires are further apart) due to those wheel arches. They also changed the front fender.

^ Yeah, The TVR's paintwork is glittered, "flecked", like a bowling ball, most people who came in hated it, but this one guy came in the day after we sold/swapped it & wasnt happy thyat it had gone!, he said he loved it and came to buy!...lol.I still havent seen swordfish...& I can imagine that it would look a lot better in a darker colour, it really is a strange car with some very original concepts in its interior user interface designs...ie: the "no doorhandle", "no visible gas cap", "no markings on any interior buttons & knobs" & the half bolted down bonnet with the large air vents that shoot hot air up & in through the open windows is weird?!...very tight inside but very comfortable...

"Ian" = the boss is very strange when it comes to buying these new cars, the mans too used to being loaded, he buys brand new cars, drives them for a couple of weeks then sells them...for a MASSIVE loss...

The porsche is beautiful, although the day I took one left hand drive Boxter back to the showroom with my son was really cool because it was a left hand drive car, automatic tiptronic, imported from saudi arabia....when your driving on the left hand side of the road but seated on the left overtaking becomes very dangerous to say the least because I couldnt see the oncoming traffic...
it took me ages to try to figure how to put the roof down, in the end I embarrassingly asked one of the paint sprayers to show me!...lol. my son fell asleep in the car on the way back then I took it to my friemds house on the way back & let him have a drive!...hehehe, very naughty but too much of a temptation to show it off to him...

Does the TVR have a front or mid-engine.... from what it look like, it seems to have a front engine... but you can't always tell...

It has a big front mounted 4 liter 380 hp straight 6, and like all TVR's it incredibly light weight (2425lbs [1100kg], a Dodge Neon SRT is 2880lbs).
