Lol, PSP is a Playstation Portable. Basically, it's their rival against the GBA systems, (even though Nintendo is releasing another portable console to drain the psp of its momentum). The PSP plays movies (that are on the psp discs), and plays of course ps games. Nifty, but expensive.

Might just wait til the price drops. Still gonna be cool as fuck to own one. Could be playing Pro Evo 4 while taking a shit. Just doesnt get any better than that....

don't people have better investments then portable playstations ?

I mean look how much time people spend on the internet, watching tv, playing video games, talking on cell phones, now playing on the go......one is constantly connected to this draining of the brain, be free, throw that shit out, pick up a basketball or something and play outside, get active, read a book, whatever.......

digging oneself in all this technology only dehumanizes us

The PSP is going to blow Nintendo DS and any other gameboy SE out of the water, unless X-box has something under their sleeves.

I invest in Playstations, go on the internet, watch TV and play video games... But I play basketball too... You don't have to give that all up just to be active...

At least it's better than TV, games are at least interactive. Do you know what the most natural and basic form of learning is?

Game playing. Everything in nature (including humans) learn best from game playing. Now, it is true that the highly commercialized garabage that dominates our current gamming industry isn't very education oriented. And most current games are usually little more than new eye candy wrapped around an old simplistic idea. However, every game requires that some skill in the brain be developed. Often it's basic things like visual and spatial perception, hand and eye coordination, simple problem solving, but in same games more advance things are learned. Such as planing, strategizing, actual history, resource management, engineering (Gran Turismo), some games even teach a little bit about human interaction. The commercialized "entertainment" factor does impose limitations, and the fact that it's computerized and artificial imposes limitations. But, there is great potential for value and on some level it will always be present. Game's do disort reality, and they can interrupt productivity however, they are far from being the worst thing a person can do with their time.

I plan on being the CEO of a my own game software company.

well said, cant argue with that

but as I always like to say

"There is a good way to go about doing bad things; and, there is a wrong way to go about doing right things"

sitting in front of a PS2 and playing Vice City for 5 hours is lame, anyhow anyone puts it, your brain will just rot

I have no life. I admit it. Half the reason I want a PSP though is just to say I have one.... And maybe play it on the go during class a bit. A PSP is the type of investment that I can re-sell if it comes down to it unlike drugs which once used they're completely gone, unlike basketball, which is limited to having a ball and a court, unlike TV which is limited to a schedule... etc.

a good book is never a bad investment, the knowledge you can gain is priceless and will last you forever

you stimulate your brain far more then you can ever on a game console
you can start and stop reading whenever you please, at night, during class, on the bus, wherever

and use your imagination or have more passion man
I take my basketball and go dribble it while I go jogging
I dont always need a basket

Steve Nash used to go behind an old factory and just dribble with two balls at the same time in each hand around pylons (well garbage) for hours

its people like him that aint discouraged by discomfort and an ideal situation that go on to do great things

use a stop sign on the street as a basket

Pele used a tin can as a soccer ball when he was a kid

technology is ruining us
people think if we dont have the newest Nike ball, LeBron kicks, a gymnasium, then we cant ever do anything

dont let superficalities limit your potential
