View Full Version : Honda Civic Type-R .V. MG ZR? - LOOK NOW.
Multiplaxed, 05-20-2005, 02:54 PM Before you leave the thread, i understand most of the US people will have no idea what both of those cars are. Here are some specs on both of these:
Honda Civic Type-R: http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/newcars/specification.jsp?yearId=2005&modelId=10413&bodyId=10732&bodyDescription=Type-R&engineId=&badgeId=&transmissionId=&colourId=&colourAllocationId=&wheelPartNo=&optionType=spec
MG ZR: http://www.mg-sportcars.co.uk/MG%20ZR.htm
Honest opinions, i know there are some car fanatics here.
The Obscured 05-20-2005, 03:03 PM hey now i know what a Type R is..Ive only seen two down here...
hmm i dont know, with the uk car, i kinda didnt understand the specs.
but as for the type r...
ive heard it was quick but..
Maximum power (PS @ rpm)
200@7400
Maximum torque (Nm @ rpm)
196@5900
Maximum torque (lb-ft @ rpm)
145@5900
trque kicks in kinda late..and most regular hondas have no torque whatsoever..
I dunno, i think the Type R would lose (stock) because I dont know the specs of that other thing..but then again that other thing is a turbo diesel. So its either really quick (because of the torque) like most american trucks. Or its really slow regardless of turbo or not because the basic TDI(for example) has 90 horsepower.
i dunno.
Multiplaxed, 05-20-2005, 03:05 PM cool cool... speed comes as a bonus on top of looks. :)
Wreckin Eyez 05-20-2005, 03:58 PM A friend of mine used to own a Type R, but it got completely stripped. The people could have wasted less time and just took the whole car, but they just stripped it and left him with the body. No engine, no seats, no nothing. Just the frame.

Exotik 05-25-2005, 12:21 AM I cant remember if the manufacturer was in GT4 or not for the MG, the shitty ps2 got the disc read error when I tried to load it up.
LyrikalMurda 05-31-2005, 04:44 PM i dont now probably the civic those are really quick cars

Multiplaxed, 06-01-2005, 01:38 PM They did go out of business. haha. :)
COVERT 06-01-2005, 01:45 PM you want the Civic its quicker and looks better, make sure its an import tho dont buy it from someone get it new, cos if you buy it 2nd hand its gonna of had the shit ragged outta it
Standard 06-02-2005, 02:27 PM They did go out of business. haha. :)
lol i thought they did... how would that affect any kind of warranty, parts availability, and maintenance?
Multiplaxed, 06-02-2005, 05:13 PM Yea, there is practically no warranty. But the cars are cheap anyway since they went down so people are selling them cheap, so i reckon any future maintenance cost will make up for it. :)
As for parts, i'm sure they will be available for a few years to come.

Actually, they are one of the only performance cars i would get second hand because they're engines can take it. Subaru's are the worst for that because the older one's aren't entirely reliable thats why they depreciate so much.
My car never had engine probs did it??
Having owned a Civic Type-r for a year, i can safely say that the only MG/Rover i came across that stood a chance was recently and it was a Rover 25 gti...
shockingly quick for a small rover but the guy stopped and had a chat with me then i took him out in the integra type-r and he was hard pressed to get the grin off his face :D
Multiplaxed, 01-11-2006, 06:56 AM can't believe i ever made this thread...
this is before:
a) i ever seen a type-r go
b) i ever knew bout type-r insurance
Paul Robinson 01-11-2006, 07:13 AM owned?

I think i'd rather have the frame then no frame at all though!
KrewShul 03-07-2006, 05:31 PM ok first its hard to find a civic Type R...better off with a acura Integra type R if your going that route....
antoher thing is Hondas...are really not good cars if your wanting speed...and HP...really with a B16a2 motor your only gettin 160 at most at the wheels kinda sucky......now if your gonna go and want horspower you better off taking the damn motor out and switching to a H22c5 powerplant in which you will push 210 out the box....then replace the stock cams and Piston....add some Skunkr stage2 racing cams and some 2g Pistons and Msd ingitions and you will torgue up as well as HP gains...you will run with about 230 to 250 hp then....replace stock exhaust...and if you want a difference buy a tanabe racing exhaust for about 700 bucks and then your at about 270 hp....then port and polish and your good for 300+...add turbo and there ya go..your in like sin...onezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Paul Robinson 03-08-2006, 05:25 AM these cars are not made for anything over 250 really....the torque steer is almost uncontrollable....They are pretty common over here but yeah, the RSX-S is the same engine as over here in the Civic Type-r
The Obscured 03-17-2006, 04:56 PM isnt the type r front wheel drive???
why would ya want almost 250-300hp going through the front wheels anyway???
Correct me if im wrong.
Paul Robinson 03-17-2006, 07:26 PM it's 197 bhp but i think it starts getting tricky after 230 bhp....But saying that there is a 300 bhp N/A one flying about tuned by System-R
