people rap what they know--if you from the "hood" you know about drugs and violence so u rap about it-in turn glorifing violence -- and "political america" believes gangsta rap promotes violence

I dont live in the hood, at the moment, and I bet I know more about drugs and violence, but especially drugs then any hood living motherfucker out there
Not every hood is a crack spot, not every hood is violent
The majority of them are just hard working people trying to make ends meet and come together as a community because when your poor you have to work together, whereas in the suburbs where they have a bit more money, you no longer need the help of your neighbour and thus everyone locks themselves up and plans all sorts of shady shit
I wanted to know what ya'll thought about gangster rap
I like it, thought gangster rap is a very loose term. Does the mention of guns automatically make it gangsta rap ? I listen to Dead Prez and Hell Razah, I guess their politically conscious rappers yet there is a lot of mentions about guns. Is that gangsta rap ? Is Snoop, a big pussy and very commercial rapper a gangster rapper ? So its hard to answer the question........but whatever, for what it is, yeah I like it simply because its just so embedded in our brains.
and actual gangsters
