They're one of the biggest money grossing groups of all time, their marketability goes a lot further than hip hop too. Perhaps they aren't recognised as individuals as much as they ought to be (with the exception of Method Man) but as a collective they're are an absolute household name in almost every country. To somebody who doesn't know anything about rap, even they would know the name. They've lost a lot of popularity within the hip hop community, but we can't forget that they've been goin for over 10 years now, the initial novelty was always gonna wear off at some point. They were so well received in the early 90's cos they were fresh n original, nobody had heard anythin like it. Nowadays you got plenty like them, Non-Phixion have almost the exact same style, Goretex even sounds identical to Ghostface. Perhaps they've slipped to the back of some peoples minds a litte (they haven't brought a collective album out since 2002, though) but they certainly aren't under-rated, every true hip hop fan will always have a copy of 36 Chambers, and those outside the hip hop community will continue to be plagued with that unmistakable symbol.
