Controversy 07-12-2005, 02:29 PM i bet any amount of money theyll accuse him of being on steroids next season
The Spectrum 07-12-2005, 03:41 PM I'll take that bet
The*Realness 07-12-2005, 03:51 PM ortiz hit 17 too... which is now the 2nd best single round performance ever
i thought the international style HR derby would blow but it went quite well
the world cup of baseball starting in 2006 will be hot and its a great movement by the MLB to internationalize the game even more

so what...unless he can play well the WHOLE season, who gives a shit. what he did the first round was very impressive but it's like scoring 20 points in the first quater, it matters what you do the rest of the way, and the home run derby isn't "the rest of the way". we see how he does the remainder of the season
DeFiction 07-12-2005, 04:15 PM Fuck Bobby... Ivan Rodriguez Should Have Won Damnitt...

 he's good but he doesn't have the raw power to be abreu
crimcartel 07-12-2005, 04:26 PM to beat abreu

Exactly... That's Another Reason I Wanted To See Him Win.. One Of The Smallest In The Derby, Would Have Been Nice To See That Outcome.. Plus He Plays For Detroit.
The*Realness 07-12-2005, 04:37 PM and he hit 6 HR in the first half of the year, it would just be quite funny, and the fan favorite, yea he deserved it.

Word, I Mean Personally I Didn't Have Any Faith Period.. I Thought He Would Be Out First Round, So It Was Still Fun To Watch Him Make It To The Finals.. He Put On A Good Show For The Hometown..

Abreu isnt that much of a power hitter either
crimcartel 07-13-2005, 11:10 AM Abreu isnt that much of a power hitter either
do you watch baseball?....what is he then? a hitter for percentage? How can you consider him not a power hitter,
The*Realness 07-13-2005, 02:40 PM hes a 5 tool player... i agree with watts god, he isnt exactly the biggest power hitter in the world either. nobody expected him to win this derby... andruw jones, carlos lee, mark teixeira, david ortiz are all more pure power hitters. abreu is not a straight power hitter, he has never hit 40 in a season.

i was addressing that rodriguez didn't have enough raw power to beat abreu, not that abreu had MORE raw power than the OTHER sluggers. He's more of a power hitter than a hitter for percentage, straight up. it wasn't to say that he is one dimensional and can only hit homers.

What the fuck you talkin about fool? I was just saying that he hit 41 Homeruns in 1 night, Im surprized he did it because hes never had a season with more than 30 HR's, either way, their not gonna pitch 60 to him all the time. Yeah hes gonna play well the whole season, but I dont think hes gonna get a 517 ft. moon shot ever again. Abreu wasn't a power hitter till this season, the past season he was straight up contact, always the leadoff hitter with the Phillies, now hes been moved down to 3rd (Power spot, how ironic).

that's what my point was at the begining, that he's a power hitter NOW MORE than a contact hitter, other people were comparing him to the other sluggers, not me.
crimcartel 07-15-2005, 11:10 AM 30 hrs fromt he lead off hitter is considered to be power lead off hitter anyway, so what are you talking about
|teChniQueZ| 07-15-2005, 02:10 PM I said that he hasnt had a season with 30 HR's...
What are you talking about? Hes a power hitter now...Hes bound to get atleast 35 this year.

barry bonds hits over .300, so what, is he a hitter for percentage too? this dude talking about son'n people, that ain't the west coast lingo dog, keep it 100 and stay true to where you at. silly dude....haha....Abreu is a lead off hitter with 30 hrs in 2 and about to make it 3 seasons. how many leadoff hitters do that? Go study sportscenter and step your game up. You can take that to the belly
The*Realness 07-15-2005, 07:09 PM first of all he sonned you. many times. just shut up. youre the most annoying nigga on this site
and hes not a leadoff hitter, both of you are wrong. he bats 3rd. he hits 30 HR in the 3 hole. hes an amazing player and a 5 tool guy but he is NOT a POWER hitter. there r 20-30 people who hit more HR than him every year on his best HR year. hes a great all around hitter, he hits for power, he hits for avertage, he steals bases, he plays good OF, and everything else, but hes not a straight power hitter
