Imperium 10-16-2005, 06:54 PM ya'll not gunna count zidane? he was pretty darn skillfull make no mistake
The*Realness 10-16-2005, 07:08 PM Ever: Pele
Recent: Henry
Current: Ronaldinho
My Favorite: Adriano
HoBGoBLiN 10-17-2005, 08:51 AM Henry's far too inconsistent to even be considered an all time great. Arsenal legend yes, great player yes, but he doesn't exactly light the international scene alight, and I dont think Ive ever seen a great player who shy's away from crucial games as consistently as Henry.
Top three ever are Maradonna Pele and Georgie Best for me. Players like Zico and Jairzinho could feel unlucky not to get more credit but it goes to Pele more often than not.. Cruyff, Platini and even Zidane are also genuine contenders
Current best player in the World is Ronaldinho without doubt, I firmly believe Rooney has the potential to be one of the Worlds finest, and most likely Englands greatest ever player.

HoBGoBLiN 10-17-2005, 04:34 PM I don't see any justifiable reason why Eric Cantona would ever be considered one of the greatest players ever...
Ah wait, it just hit me.
You're United fans right? Hahaha
Dirty Frank 10-17-2005, 05:23 PM They don't call him King Cantona for nowt ya know... >:/
HoBGoBLiN 10-17-2005, 05:44 PM Hahaha, there's a pretty solid basis for calling him a fat French wanker too you know...
Nah he was a great player no question, but he's nowhere near the greatest player ever. He's not even the greatest French player ever.
10 points to whoever can tell me the highest scoring player in any single World Cup (without searching the net, you sad little puppy)
IlliziT 10-17-2005, 07:12 PM ever?
i would say pele in his days. ronaldo (goofy 1) years ago
cantona was very skilled
but goalkeeper - peter schmicheal was a legend 2 me
Obnoxious. 10-17-2005, 07:21 PM he was a celtic legend not a legend in the world game ....

HoBGoBLiN 10-18-2005, 08:27 AM Just Fonataine was the highest goal scorer in anysingle World Cup, 10 points just went begging.. Like Arsenals title ambitions haha
Kronologik 10-18-2005, 08:55 AM I dont think Ive ever seen a great player who shy's away from crucial games as consistently as Henry
Not being biased (well maybe a little), but that's not really true. He's scored countless times against Man United, the biggest game of the league season. Scored last year against Chelsea in the most crucial game of the season. Scored a hat trick against Inter at the San Siro, scored 2 against Roma at the Olympic Stadium, scored a goal starting from his own half against Spurs at Highbury (remember that one Fnom?!) and scores a lot of goals for France. Hardly inconsistent in crucial games is he?

Haha, yea I remember that one. Twat.
Nah, he's incredibly inconsistent when it comes to big games... Remember 2002 World Cup? Remember qualifiers for Euro 2004? Remember qualifiers for 2006 World Cup? I know you remember the countless times when Arsenal have needed results in big games in the Champions League and he just hasn't come up with the goods. Against United, I can't say I remember him scoring many goals against them, that dodgy free kick is the only one that springs to mind. The awful fact that accompanies that, is United have the lions share of wins in Arsenal United encounters over the past five years. He is a great player, even as a Yid I'll hold my hands up and say he's probably the best in the premier league. But it's senseless to deny that he falters in some of the big games, it's like he's just nowhere to be seen.
When United ended your unbeaten run last year, Henry was nowhere to be seen, he looked completely out of his depth. For a player of his stature thats just criminal. Ljungberg is a better performer in your bigger fixtures

crimcartel 10-18-2005, 02:52 PM Freddy adu!! i'm joking i don't know much about soccer, i do know most of the players you mentioned. I always liked ronaldo, but i guess he's not good anymore or old? I'm just happy american soccer has improved even though they're no where near international competition.
Oh, by the way anybody play or read the Reviews on Fifa 06? it's seems like they have improved very much this year and have uped the competition with winning eleven. I can't wait to get it

2 RONALDHINO
3 ERIC CANTONA.
yall witnessed the greatest score twice tonight..the first goal...*phew!*
HoBGoBLiN 10-18-2005, 05:48 PM Henry fair made me eat my words there. What a fuckin goal that was, majestic
Yeah it's more evenly matched than I thought, though if you counted any you missed Im pretty sure it'd swing further in Utds favour. You're talkin 10 years of games there n you only listed 18, including a few cup ties.
Spurs V United this Saturday, reckon they'll be out with a point to prove specially spud head Rooney.. We can beat them though, come on lads
IdE-iLL™ 10-18-2005, 06:16 PM Rooney is a beast... United will rip spurs..
^^i dunno man.....united AND i admit...Arsenal have fallen off a little lately...
spurs got a real genuine chance the way they're playing...
HoBGoBLiN 10-18-2005, 06:38 PM In all fairness they probly will beat us but we always give them a run for their money, and this is the best Spurs team Ive seen since 91. We stand a chance against any team we play, even last season there was by no means whatsoever a gulf in class between Chelsea and Spurs. The better team won in the end but this is football, thing that makes it so brilliant is it's unpredictable. Look at Arsenal this weekend, at 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon you would have said there was more chance of Spurs beating United than West Brom beating Arsenal...
griff12 10-25-2005, 12:13 PM george best was the best and most talented footballer ever even tha great man pele thought so, jus imagine if he didnt get pissed up all tha time how gud he wud be, but yeah that lil argy fucka was awesome too and van basten no 1 has sed him so thought i give him his props!
HoBGoBLiN 10-25-2005, 12:16 PM Rooney is a beast... United will rip spurs..
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SIT DOWN CHILD!
Super Jermaine Jenas, from here on in he shalt be known throughout this kingdom as Jermaine Jesus.. What a ferckin free kick that were, they ain't seen one of them at Old Trafford since Beckham left
YIDDO YIDDO YIDDO
Kronologik 10-26-2005, 10:27 AM Nice free kick, but I still don't rate Jermaine Jenas. He's yet to prove himself. Everyone rates him really highly but I've never seen him put in a man of the match performance for any team.
Imperium 10-26-2005, 10:37 AM yeh fuck jenas, he was a load of wank for newcastle, apart from the once in a blue moon performance he would pull off.
HoBGoBLiN 10-26-2005, 10:50 AM ^^^He's a decent player, but I agree with Kron that he still has a lot to prove.. He started off slowly for us (and I mean real slow) but the past few games his work ethic has improved and he's looking a lot more confident. Plus he's scored in his last two :) He's only young as well, an he's got a scorchin shot on him
I still don't see how he has a place in the England squad though, Carrick is far superior. Different type of player I suppose but Carrick is class
-Inphinite- 10-27-2005, 01:41 PM Utd 6 -1 Arsenal...shhh ahaha..
^ :D.
Best player ever? Maradonna. He killed the game when he was at Barcelona.
Best player at the moment? Ronaldhino, easily.
Best player recently? Zidane or Ronaldo.
