View Full Version : 50 Cent Underrated....

Does anyone else see anything hypocritical about everyone's opinion on 50? What I mean by everyone, is that everyone was on the 50 Cent bandwagon a few months ago. His album was hailed as "a classic"!! Does anyone else remember that? Than, that same exact same album that came out a few months ago, went from a classic to "not as good as his underground shit". Actually 50 Cent used to be "50 Cent, the best emcee in the industry" - at one time or another he was rated over Big, Pac, Em, Nas, and Jigga even after Get Rich came out. Now he's "50 Cent, the worst rapper Ive ever heard" or "he used to be good when he was underground, but now he sucks!" I just dont buy any of this bullshit.

^^^^unfortunately....i was always on the...50 Cent is underrated but he's not as tight as others...juss like a lot of underground artists...i think that his time in enter the commercial world was a bit overdue and because of that the style that a majority of people grew to love, became this very tawdry and dry lyrical album that only white people who love eminem and commercialist black and mexican people grew to love....BUT...i cant hate on him...hes makin da green...but then again...i will be too soon....so whats going to be the difference...

to answer you question the easiest way.

We were drowning in all the "soft" hip hop for so long that when someone finaly came around talkin bout gangsta shit we went bannanas. Then when his album dropped and his tracks were more airplay then we could stand to listen to. We finaly started listening to his basic style with simple word conections and stupid topics {21 questions so on} we relized that all his best shit was already spent. aka in 6 months em will be gohst writting 50 shit.
Bye Bye 50 we will miss you.

Unlike most people who profess to listen to rap....I really listen to rap. Not the instrumentals....not the hook that's catchy...what's being said. And unfortunately, 50 doesn't have much to say. His life story has already been described to all of us. And even worse, Em can't ghost-write 50's stuff, because 50 wouldn't be able to spit it (lol).

Truth is shaking his head at this thread. OVERRATED you must have meant. This game is about doin' things new. Saying something different. Expressing it different. I don't think 50 has the mindset to do any of that.

I liked his shit for a while, and it is true, his underground shit is kew, but when u make it big, its about the media, and u release what they want, not what u've been writin about before u dropped...

Blood Hound...that's not the truth. It's just that so many of us are weaklings so we do what the media wants instead of being true to ourselves. That's what happened to Jay-Z. And before the end of this year, the BLACK ALBUM gon' be released to bring back the same kinda Jay-Z we saw in the Dynasty. That's what happened to Nas....and Stillmatic wasn't the non-commercial album that broke him free of the media and allowed to retain his cred.

You don't have to do anything the media wants you to do. With millions of dollarz, you make your own decisions, and if you don't, you may as well have no money. Stay true to yourself or die trying.

What I was sayin is that my opinion on 50 hasnt changed at all - he makes some dope records. Is he my favorite artist, or even close to my favorite artist? Hell no. I know someone said that they just listen to the artist (no production, no hooks). Well, thats kind of how I used to be. And I realized, Im just overanalyzin shit - and Ive enjoyed alot more shit since than includin 50 Cent. It was kind of buggin me that people were sayin he was the best emcee in the world (when hes far from it) and than all of a sudden he's horrible(when hes far from that). Sure he put out some corny shit wit '21 Questions'. Every artist has to do that just to make it since MTV/TRL took over hiphop. Like Eminem's 'Hi My Name Is', 'Real Slim Shady', and 'Without Me' - corny as shit, but thats what the industry's forcin cats to do now.

As far as Im concerned 50 is just fuckin OVERRATED. I never liked him in the underground to begin with and I dont like him now. His rhymes are too simplistic and he basically talks about the same fuckin thing in all his damn songs.

There are only 2 reasons why his album sold that much

1) He got shot and for some reason people think that increased his lyrical ability
2) He is signed to Aftermath (anyone associated with Eminem is bound to gain a large white fan base)

I bought Get Rich and the only thing about it worth talking about are the instrumentals. Face it, the guy is just not a good lyricist, he got a couple punchlines yeah but thats it, no wordplay, no variety in concepts and he stays with the same sluggish flow all the fuckin time (that shits really annoying)

YALL MUFUKAS KNOW FUCKIN WELL THAT THE RAP GAME HAS CHANGED SO MUCH TO THE POINT THAT IF YOU DONT HAVE A JAIL RECORD, BEEN SHOT(50CENTS,TUPAC)TO NAME A FEW, GOT MISSING TEETH, KNIFE SCARS,CAUGHT A BODY OR SHOT SOME ONE ETC , (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF EMINEM(EM JUST LIKE OTHER PAST WHITE MCEES GET SPECIAL TREATMENT , MAINLY PROMOTION) THEN YOU ARE A FUCKIN NOBODY IN THIS GAME! POINT BLANK! THE GAME CHANGED AFTER NWA CAME OUT PRETTY MUCH THEY SET THE STANDARDS THAT ARE PRESENT NOW IN THE HIP HOP GAME.
