Nas is Booed, Eminem Smashes his 'Source' Award
Eminem, the headliner of Summer Jam 10, took time on stage to show his anger toward the Source magazine. During a break in his performance on Tuesday (June 3) at Giants Stadium, Eminem hurled his 2000 Source Award for Lyricist Of The Year to the ground.
The rapper has been involved in an ongoing feud with Source magazine co-owner Ray Benzino, who has accused Eminem of taking
advantage of and destroying the hip-hop culture to further his personal gain. Eminem and his mentor, Dr. Dre, subsequently pulled all of their ads from the magazine.
Eminem ended his set with a performance of his Murder Inc. Records diss "Hail Mary" for which he was joined by 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes.
Summer Jam 10 featured performances by the Clipse, Lil' Kim, Sean Paul, Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Nas, and Fabolous.
Approximately 55,000 fans watched the four-and-a-half hour show in the rain at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.
The evening's highlight was Busta Rhymes' high energy set during which he was joined by Sean Paul for a performance of "Make It Clap (Remix)," Lumidee for a performance of "Never Leave You (Remix)," Bone Crusher for an abridged performance of "Never Scared (Remix)," Sean "P. Diddy" Combs for a performance of their Grammy-nominated hit "Pass The Courvoisier" and by Mariah Carey and the Flipmode Squad for the grand finale, "I Know What You Want."
Some low points during the evening were Nelly and the St. Lunatics being booed during their performance of "Dilemma" and a chorus of boos when Nas performed a verse from his Jay-Z diss record "Ether."
