View Full Version : Fort Minor
PeeJai 12-11-2005, 11:40 AM I got the album the other day and I quite like it, not properly listened to all the songs yet but it is good so far. Anybody else liking them?? If a few people want I could upload the album but y'all should bye that shit if you want it really.
Glenn Swagmire 12-11-2005, 12:15 PM the album aint as good as i thought it would have been
Blazе 12-12-2005, 01:50 AM Yeah I was feeling the album. But I expected a few more upbeat songs. Right Now is definitely the best track on the album. I won't upload it, but ya'll should go pick that up. Album is called The Rising Tied... Real Hip-Hop.
D^Coy 12-12-2005, 01:56 AM I don't know about y'all, but i was expecting way more from Ryu on this one. He was fire on the mixtape, but he was toned down on the album.
Blazе 12-12-2005, 02:23 AM ^^^Idk, I was more critical of Mike. He came hard on Right Now, but even though Kenji was a meaningful song, he was horrible lyrically. I haven't really critiqued Ryu's rhymes. He was awesome on Red To Black though.
Right Now is the best track on the album hands down.
Glenn Swagmire 12-12-2005, 02:25 AM i just thought the album was disapointing compared to the mixtape
PeeJai 12-12-2005, 03:41 PM ^^I haven't heard the mixtape so wudn't know but I like the album, one of the better mainstream releases this year.
Pepin 12-12-2005, 05:53 PM This is definitly one of the best albums of this year. Remember The Name is the best song on the cd in my opinion. If you don't have this cd you should definitly pick it up.
X-NINE 12-13-2005, 10:45 AM best produced album of 05' no lie...
the shit iz str8 nutz.....fuck all the fags that hate it cuz he's from linkin park...
shit, at least this iz gettin attn from rock and hiphop fans at the same time
PeeJai 12-13-2005, 03:40 PM Who said anything about not liking him because he was in Linkin Park?? And i doubt many rock fans like this album, it's a hip hop album, rock fans are gonna stick with the Linkin Park album arn't they.
SomethingAwfl 12-13-2005, 03:47 PM Yeah this shit is DOPE. Styles of Beyond are illy as hell, especially Tak. Shinoda is pretty good with rapping, and he's amazing with beats.
Blazе 12-13-2005, 11:32 PM And i doubt many rock fans like this album, it's a hip hop album, rock fans are gonna stick with the Linkin Park album arn't they.
Most FM fans came from LP, but yeah a lot of the fans of the rock side of LP don't like FM. Stupid people can't open their minds to different genres  .

'Lotta haters on that board. But they do make some points. Mike Shinoda is an average rapper. His first few lines on 'Back Home' were painful to listen to:
"Back home
we've got a lot of shit on our minds
We're always behind on something cause there's not enough time"
But Mike makes an impact with simple rhymes. Right Now is an example of that. The rhymes are average, but the lyrics are amazing. He's got powerful lines, even though he's not constantly using multies (not as if that makes a rapper). Ex:
"At times like these you start thinking
Your first breath in and the clock starts ticking"
On a side note, I was really mad that Petrified was the first single. The song is lyrically trash, and belongs solely in the club. RTN should have been the first single.
D^Coy 12-14-2005, 02:21 AM He should have put High Voltage - WTC Remix track on there :(. I still think it has the sickest beat this year. And he actually ripped on that track.

He was better lyrically on High Voltage than he was in a lot of the FM stuff.
X-NINE 12-14-2005, 09:24 PM HIGH VOLTAGE!!!!!!
shit i was listenin to Reanimation agains today, that song was one of his best
omicron 12-14-2005, 10:21 PM i didnt liek it that much
fort minor is mad overrated.
Glenn Swagmire 12-15-2005, 12:39 AM i didnt liek it that much
fort minor is mad overrated.
yeah , i think that too
the abum aint that bad but i preferred the mixtape
The*Realness 12-15-2005, 08:03 PM how can they be overrated?? they don't get that much hype, i'd never heard of FM before Blaze came in here and started hyping them up for us and i started to like them.
fort minor dont get their name associated with Jay-Z being the executive producer, or the guest appearances with them.. its a very lowkey group as of now and i like what they do, theyre highly underrated.
as for the actual album, i think the beats all sound a little too similar but theyre all solid and create a good feel to the album, and there are a few standout tracks. I think Tak is incredible throughout the whole album and he definitely shines. on solo tracks i didnt like what Mike did on the album... overall id give it like a 3.8/5, i like what FM can do but i didnt love the album overall... i aint been on this site for a minute so i might do some more album reviews of somewhat new albums
Blazе 12-16-2005, 06:58 PM I'm with The Realness on the whole Mike solo thing. He's good when he's got a few people on the track, but I'm not too fond of his solo efforts as far as FM goes.
