I have started to listen to Immortal Technique and the guy just blows my brains out, defiantly one of the best emcees I have ever heard. He really has the ability to get people interested in topics like politics, a true musical activist of our time. Every time I hear one of his songs I think to myself if Immortal Technique was able to go mainstream without changing his views/image then more people would have respect for rap, but at the same time a part of me knows that he would be overlooked, due to the fact that the majority of mainstream rap is fill of posers and the majority of mainstream rap fans are nothing but suburban wannabe gangstas. All these 13 year old kids would probably be like. It really shows how much Hip-Hop has deteriorated when a rappers skills are based around how many times they have been shot, how much money/jewelry they have and how big their car rims are instead of how good they are at actually rapping.

I truly believe that the only way a major record label (eg. Aftermath, DefJam) would ever sign Immortal Technique would be if he was willing to change his style, even if just slightly. I don't think you'd ever hear another song like Dance With The Devil if he got signed.

And...

Since I know IT would never do that to his fans, he would never change his style for more money, he'd never get signed to a major label (eg. Aftermath, DefJam, Rocafella).

The two things just don't agree with eachother

If he ever went mainstream, he would never be as big as 50 Cent, his popularity would be as similar to Nas. Even though Nas is a rap legend, he is mostly only popular among st true hip hop fans. Ask any kid if they know who 50 Cent is and most of them will tell you they know who he is, ask any kid who Nas is and most of them will probably say they have heard OF him, but haven't heard any of his music.

The same thing probably applies to Big Pun too.

Immortal Technique mostly appeals to a niche market, but his popularity in underground hip hop is huge across the world and is continuously growing, sooner or later his label Viper Records is going to take off and become a huge success in terms of an indie label.

What's the point in even wanting him to go mainstream. He's got plenty of money. It's not like he's not gonna stop making records. Sure, he'll get more money if he signs, but how do you benefit?
