What are some tips you have for the people who will be taking the SAT and ACT this year?

I took the PSAT's this year (9th Grade) just for kicks and got 1360 something / 1600

The new one's out of 2400 I got like 2080 something.

I got 3000

Didnt take it and went to college anyway.

I got a 20 on my ACT and a 1030 on my SAT

I thought i was going to get like a 10 on my act and a -1600 on my sat.
I was really stressed out. I studied for my ACT but not my SAT. It goes to show that studying isnt always because i scored lower on my ACT (with studying) then i did on my SAT (with out studying).

My advice for the people taking the tests this year. DONT STRESS!!!
It might be hard NOT to stress, but it really isnt worth all the headache. Just answer what you know and dont press yourself harder then you feel as though you can go. :)

I got a 24, with about 5 mins worth of studying. Would have done better if I wasn't given a shit load of work to do in the previous couple of weeks and had time to study.

I got a 26 for the ACT. I thought I was going to fail, because I hadn't studied at all. But I really didn't care at the time, because I had had only 3 hours of sleep and hadn't eaten any breakfast after a night of fucking around and getting high.

If that's referring to me, (A) I'm asian, it's in my blood to be smart and (B) I DO have a scholarship plan for Weapons Engineering associated with the Army.

Hey Dumbass, Saudi Arabia IS in Asia. So when he says he's Asian, he could be Arabian too. But no, he's just a whole bunch of Asian cultures put together.

And I am very intelligent myself, always have been. I'm not a sports person though, so I can't bench shit. The only "cool" things in sports I can do is dunk and shoot threes consistently, and that comes from my height of 6'4. But I can't dribble for shit so I don't play B-Ball that much either. So I'm not perfect. A 36 in ACT is perfect. I got a 26

^^^^I wasn't completely joking actually. 90% of Asian countries have an educational system 10 times harder and more competetive than the US' or UK's. Getting a 90% on a hard test doesn't make you the smart guy in class over there. And having parents brought up in that educational system can affect one's academic performance. Also, look around, Asians and Jews are running US.

I believe that no educational system is designed to make a person smart. There are ways to 'beat' any form of testing. Educational systems are designed to give the appearance of intellect to those who are granted the highest grades. Because there is much that goes into the granting of grades, it would be wrong to construe a person who received 90% in a test as more intellectual than a person who received a 40% in the same exam.

If your arguments were correct, my friend, that would mean that Blacks are the least genetically smart persons in the World. This would stand to reason even though Blacks were prevented from attending schools. And once they got in the schools, were still looked on with disdain by educators. This practice continues to this day.

Your thoughts are akin to the prejudicial views held by many of society. Thus, when I was in law school, they were baffled with how this Black kid could out-maneuver them on most occassions. Even though they were Asian, White and every other denomination.

Don't fall into the trap of believing that social influences play no part in the perception of intelligence. If you were correct, then the framers of all civilization are the least intelligent people on Earth. It would also mean that the World is justified in treating those people in a sub-standard way.

Not agreeing with THE TRUTH. You are taking the argument into the extremes. All Al is saying is that his parents, being brought up in an environment where education is VERY important, pressed him into becoming more academic. Anybody can be smart, if you're brought up that way. No one said anything about being genetically smart. It's not just Asians being Smart Guys out there. It's every foreigner doing it. Because America has its head stuck so far up its ass that our youth are benching 300, throwing 100 yard passes, and shooting from half court. Then their report cards come in with littered with F's.

Africans, Asians, Europeans, etc. They're all taking advantage of their educations. The most experienced doctors are being taken up by Hindus. Pharmacy is now being overrun with Nigerians. Making it a black thing again, huh? Africans are the blackest people on the face of the planet, going thorugh all sorts of tragedies, and they still manage to migrate to America and try to make better of themselves. Meanwhile Black-AMERICANS are dealing drugs. Half of them will tell you that they had to, it was their only way out the hood. No, they saw someone else do it, and decided they'd do it too. They could have gone to school, got a scholarship, and left out of the hood. But as usual, the American youth is looking for the easy way out, regardless of its morality. And that goes for all races.

Don't get all intelligent with me. Just because there are students out there raised to become what they ARE, doesn't mean you have to hate. And it has never been a race thing. It's culture.

Got a 1440/1600 SAT.

i took SATs last week, didnt getresults yet

but on the practice ones, i get like 1700s....

my advice: alot ppl let this stress em out to death, but truth is don't let a booklet of paper scare u. it's not gon murder

i got a 24 on the ACT...we was in a big ass school in the Chi, and it was 80 degrees n there was no air conditioning, so they put the fans on and opend the windows, which only blew in hot air, also thy wouldnt let us drink water or fan ourselves cuz thats cheating...stupid shit.....didnt take the SATs but i got a scholorship for soccer n im already goin to college so fuck it

advice: take as many practice ones as you want...the more you take it the better your scores will be...also get sleep the night before, n eat breakfast...blueberrys and mints are brain food so consider thems

^by studying like hell. for the whole week before it, i spent about 4 hours PER NIGHT studying. i dont normally do that but it was for a good cause.
