Hmmm.. I was just listening to Cuban Links - 'Letter To Pun', and you know this track is deep as hell. Well anyway, I thought about this for a minute, but if you're 'bout to prepare an emotional track (ie. Tribute), then would you do with or without a Chrous or Hook?
I always thought that it was all about the content of the verses which made the emotion, and Hook's are just fillers for time 'cause rappers these days get lazy. Cuban Link is a perfect example of the opposite, he went 5 minutes straight just rappin' and it was deep as hell, really make's listeners think. But Iunno, hope ya'll understand what I'm tryna' ask here, lol.

Ever heard "Ms. Hill" by Talib Kweli? It's a tribute and is very emotional, and it has a chrous as well as a hook.

So taking that song in example, I'd go with both.

yeah I agree, both...depends on context of dedication and style of rappers. I did a dedication and included a hook to help get a bit of plays but truthfully I had enough content to spit solid for 5 mins. It's just personal choice and also if you wanted to get the plays...IMO.
