Saturday morning, 11am, California, USA
I am a young teenager aged 16 called Mike. I am at home by myself playing video games
I hear the mail van roll up the driveway and pause the game I am playing, running excitedly to the door

"YESSS!! It's finally here! Samurai Legend 3!"

I sprint to the living room and put the game into the console, switching it on
I sit down in my favourite chair and wait for the game to load
Whilst doing so, I read the instruction manual. As I skim over the basic controls,
I notice a note at the bottom of the last page.

Please note: Once you complete the game, press L3 & R3 together for a special bonus.
Pressing it during gameplay is not advised

I think to myself "Hmmmm....I wonder what would happen if I pressed it anyway..."

Sat in the lounge, staring at the screen, pad in hand
Pushing buttons, and my character obeys my commands
My eyes expand, the adrenaline pumps through my veins
Walking over remains of enemy warriors who I'd slayed
Stood in triumph at the battle, a blood drenched sword
Sit and wait patiently to collect my deserved reward
But nothing...
Just silence, my character turns to face me and speak
"How'd you like to take a walk in my shoes for a week?"

The urge to press the two forbidden buttons overpowers me, and without thinking,
I go ahead and press them...




*Silence*




"Wow, that was la...."

All of a sudden, the room turns dark. The in-game background music starts to play out of the hi-fi
speakers in the opposite corner of the room. A cold draft pierces through the room.

A chill shivers down my spine. I turn to look back at the TV screen.
The warrior who I was controlling stares back out of the screen, smiles, and says...

"Pressing L3 and R3 is not advised during gameplay. But since you did, come into my world....

...Mike"
