Ok this is my first client cover Ive done for a group called "illumination" (will post later in GFX)

I have not sent him the front and back cover yet as I need help with settings.
He will be printing but im not sure if he will be going to a proper proffesional printing company or printing from home. So i dont know yet if i will have to add the bleed of 1/4 inch, if he goes proffesional print he will need the bleed if he prints form home i dont know if he will. I have set it to CMYK colour which is the setting for printing. What else should be done to make sure the image is the best quality possible? help would be very much appreciated.

well if he gone print, he will most likely go to a professional especially is it gone be alot printed off. But i think you should ask youre client first. Aslo to keep quality good you should work at 300 DPI, 200 & 150 are ok, but 300 is the BEST to work at, as when printed it will be the maximum quality it can be.

Go to Image > Image Size. It'll be in the box that pops up. Also, when doing higher dpis you have to do more pxs. When printing you don't go by how many pixels though, just how many inches and how many pixels in an inch.

And I'd always add the bleed, just cause. Explain it to him though, that it has a bleed and to remove it.

Ok i will add the bleed, I changed the pixels/inch to 300 and the image goes massive? is this correct? surely I cant send him the giant image? lol

yea thye pixels will be huge as fuck.. but if u were to print from photoshop it would b the exact size.. you are really "supposed" to work @ 300 dpi for w/e ur doing...

yo when u print itll only be the rigbht size if u print FROM PHOTOSHOP... keep that in mind..

^ Just to explain....

The reason why it goes so big when its at 300 DPI, is because you're moniter resolution is at 72 DPI which is the normal DPI for a computer screen. It just looks big, and it will lag the fuck outa your computer when working at 300 DPi, unless you have a really good one with fast speed, GFX card and RAM.

^which is why most ppl dont work @ 300dpi.. when they really should..
