Ive never played Ice Hockey, but I've been ice skating for a long time now. I used to live very near to one when I was younger and I took lessons and shit, and I still go every now and then when I can be bothered. Trust me, it isn't as hard as passing a ball 65+ yard ACCURATELY.

There is so much more skill involved in football than ice hockey. I mean all you do in ice hockey is pass the puck, barge into each other and shoot. Whereas in football the skill involved is immense, from control to taking people on to the passing and shooting as well.

It's all well using a stick to control and manouvere the puck, but think about how much skill it takes to actually use your FEET to control a ball, which doesn't just slide on the floor, but is airbourne, can unpredicatbly swerve in the air, can spin in different directions making it harder to control etc.

We have maximum of 3 substitutions for the whole game, meaning at least 8 of your team has to play the full game. No pussying out if you get a little tired, you just have to endure the pain. You dont know the technicalities of the game..and NHL season wasnt shut down due to lack of interest, it was about the players association and the NHL board fighting over money..thats why the salary cap was dropped..

It depends... If someone is tripped ON PURPOSE and this means that their team doesnt have the ball, then it could have stopped a good scoring chance... so thats why there are fouls and free-kicks. If they're tripped and their team has an advantage (where the ball falls to one of their team-mates), then the game plays on.

Baseball is a worldwide sport. There are leagues in Europe, and it's popular in Eastern Asia. Theree is an American Football league in Europe. Saying Ice Hockey is worldwide has no relevance. The FACT is, baseball and american football are both more popular in the nation where the MAIN competition takes place. Like in Europe, where the main football competitions are played, the #1 sport is football. But in North America, where the main hockey competitions are played, the #1 sport is Baseball.

Other injuries except leg injuries? Don't know if you've noticed, but soccer is played predominantly using the legs and feet. Nobody would survive hits in hockey b/c the ice is so hard, almost everytime someone got hit they'd have a concussion or bust their head open on the ice. Thats why they have pads.. The pads truthfully are more for protection against the ice and walls... They dont completely block out the impact. Think about it, PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES, hitting you into a wall. You HAVE to have pads or their would be like 3 deaths a game. And especially goalies, Pucks are very solid and heavy, one hit over 70 mph would kill you most likely.

Similar to American Football, Pads are there b/c you have some of the biggest physical freaks in the world in football. There is a guy coming out this year named Mario Williams in the draft. 6'5 295 lbs, and runs a 4.6 40 yard dash. There is a tight end named Vernon Davis, who is 6'2 250 something and runs a 4.37 40 yard dash. Just for reference in case that doesnt amaze you, these guys are running amazing times for there size.

If you have a 6'3 250 linebacker who benches 400+ lbs hit you full speed with no pads, you arent gonna last very long, b/c of broken ribs and wat not.

And I don't want to hear the Rugby argument, b/c rugby hits are absolutely NOTHING like NFL hits. Yes, there are some really big and tough rugby players, but they are nothing like NFL players.

Spits, given the choice of using skill and brute force, I'd go for skill, because it's something that not everyone can master, but everyone can be rough. There's no skill in bashing someone into the boards to justify wearing padding. But true, there is a hell of a lot of skill involved when controlling the puck whilst skating and being hounded by an opponent.
